Hello girls! I am considering ordering a silk top full lace human hair wig from bestlacewigs.com for my wedding and having someone locally apply, cut, and style it (I usually style my TWA myself but wanted flowing locks for the wedding/honeymoon). Does anyone have any experience with silk top? Does it rip easily? The silk top wig I was considering buying is about $115 more than a full lace wig without the silk top. Of course, I want to look natural in pictures but is the silk top worth the extra expense? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!!

I would suggest a sew-in weave. It’ll be easier to maintain and more natural looking. I have worn various types on half wigs, sew-ins, lace fronts, etc. And to be honest the only thing that looks natural other than your natural hair is a sew-in with some leave out (hair left out around perimeter.) Remember, you want to be able to look at your wedding pictures decades from now and they look classic, timeless, and beautiful. Sometimes wigs are hit or miss. It’s best not to chance it. Just my advice.

KristinGlamazon: Good points but isn’t it hard to achieve a weave with leave out with a TWA? Would you just press the hair that’s out and hope for the best? You certainly couldn’t go in the water on the honeymoon without looking a little nuts.

A good quality wig will be okay and better than lace (I’m not a fan of knots that show and always bleach my knots). The silk top lace wigs I’ve worn haven’t ripped (but I am very careful with all my lace wigs.)
I am natural and getting a sew-in for my wedding. I chose kinky curly hair and will have it straightened for the ceremony & reception. I will have it curly for the honeymoon.

MrsNG_inJersey: do you mind sharing what hair you will be using?
