LOL, I know it sounds weird...but a lot of the seamstress ask that. Its normal....its your choice though. Most people get a better fit if the bra is sewn right in....plus they wont have to worry about the bra slipping and falling down. But here is a question you said that you are having sleeves added, are the sleeves able to cove the bra straps if you choose to wear a regular bra? I only ask cus if it does and you are going that route I would suggest not sewing the bra!
Thank you for answering my question, because as a first time bride, I'm totally clueless. :) No, the sleeves are off the shoulder, and wouldn't hide any straps. But now that I know she isn't asking for anything out of the ordinary, I'm happy to oblige. I thought her skills as a seamstress may be questionable, but then again it's not my profession, which is why I asked the hive. :-) Just wanted to see if this was normal!
If it makes you feel better, I've heard of it being done, too :). I bet you can someone remove the bra once you're married.
Lol yeah...Im a first bride too....Always a bridesmaid never a bride....until now...lol. But it is totally up to you....plus with having it sewn in you really dont have to buy an expensive one. A corset one is probably your best bet because you can tighten it as much as you need it....that way if there is any change in buste size you can tighten it! The bra/corset should only be sewn in half way....the straps where they hook or lace up should be left hanging. Hope this helps!
A lot of people have their bra sewn in. Alternatively your seamstres can sew it straps that hook onto your bra to keep it in place but that then come off so you can use your bra later. This is what my seamstress is doing.

So... My actual dress still hasn't arrived, so the bridal salon is floating me the sample to use. I went last weekend to have my dress altered for the first time ever. They found I've lost two sizes, so my dress needs to be taken in quite a bit.
One place requiring an exceptional amount of alteration is the bust area. I'm also having some sleeves added. Anyway, something struck me as odd: the seamstress asked me for a strapless bra or a corset so she could sew the bustline to it. Does this sound normal? I thought that was quite strange, and frankly, I don't think I should have to give up an expensive undergarment to be permanently sewn into the dress if it's not customary. Has anyone else gone through alterations and had this asked of them?
Thanks for entertaining my question.
