I am looking for a very specific colored shoe, and it’s been a challenge! I was wearing 3″ heels when I was measured for my dress, so I am trying to find a pair with the same heel height. I finally found a pair that has a 3″ heel and a 1″ plateform. So is it actually a 4″ shoe? Or is the platform included because of the heel height?
I know it’s a silly question! But it’s online so it’s tough to tell from the picture

Can you link the shoe? Perhaps it is more detailed in description somewhere else.
For my shoe it lists the heel height however when you see the shoe there is a 1″ platform not mentioned making the actual height (of discomfort) 3″.

I don’t know for sure, sure – but I think you just go by the heel height to determine how tall the shoes are. The platform is just there for extra comfort/the look of more height.
I’m only making an estimated guess based on a pair of 4′ heels I have that have a platform. I measured the heel itself from floor to base of shoe, and it’s 4′ – they have approx 1/2′ platform, so when I walk in them they feel more like a 3-3 & 1/2′ heel and I can wear them all day with no problem. Other shoes I have with the same heel height (4′) but no platform KILL my feet after a few hours … and aren’t as stable when walking – but I don’t notice a big difference in the height when I stand in them …
Again, this is just from my personal experience … hopefully some Bees with lots of shoe knowledge can help 🙂

I believe heels are only measured… because a three inch heel with a 2″ platform is still 3 inches… The difference is the rise and how comfortable it will be on your foot… Take the heel height and minus the platform and you have the amount of rise your foot will be doing… but heel height is heel height no matter how you go about it. 🙂
My shoes are 4.5 inch heels with a half inch platform, they only give me 4.5 inches of height, but the rise is 4 inches, which is a really high rise. lol
