I want to wear some kick ass 5 inch heels with my wedding dress. Its a destination wedding in Mexico, but the area where we are getting married in is not right on the beach, and i chose this location so that i could be wearing my pretty shoes. The problem is that our reception might be on the beach…so i am inticipating that the shoes will be coming off at that point. Am I going to be tripping over my dress when I dont have shoes on? I am planning to get it hemmed to match the height of my shoes.
Do you think this is going to be a problem?

Not seeing your dress makes this difficult. Some dresses you can have the bustle done so that it brings up the length some, but I’m not sure how much this can be done. I, personally, am opting for flats because I cannot keep heels on for the amount of hours I’ll be on my feet. If you insist on heels as I know some girls do then I would go with a high sandal or a lower heel so that you are not dragging your dress on the beach or tripping over it all night. Unless you really don’t mind trashing it…

Wear your killer heels, but take a pair of really comfy wedges that are around the same height as your heels for when you go on the beach. If wearing wedges on the beach won’t work maybe you will just have to get lower heels, or deal with carrying the front of your dress around all ngiht?

I agree about the wedges idea 🙂

Idk how wedges will be actually since the angle of the heel might still be dangerous in the sand. I would get some high platform flip flops or something else that will be more stable at your ankle than a wedge

@Blushingbella: Depending on the length of your dress, get a wrist loop bustle. That way, you can wear your pretty shoes and then dance the night away in the sand without any worries!
ETA: I went back and saw your dress. Could you have the seamstress make the bottom tier detachable?

Thanks for the suggestions everyone 🙂 … I did consider making the bottom of my dress detachable. Platforms may a also be a good option. Much appreciated!!

@Blushingbella: I wore 4.5 inch heels for our Destination Wedding which was on a tile roof top but then we went down to the beach for pics and I got white wedge flip flops to change into
The were my wedding shoes
I got these to change into they were 3.5 so only 1 inch short than my heels and I did fine once I changed
Maybe you can look for some wedge type flip flops a little higher than these for the reception
