Hi everyone!! This is my first post on here. My fiance proposed in January, but we aren’t getting married until September 2013 so I’m just starting to plan! My current concern is whether I can really have GOLD as a main color in the wedding decor, since my dress has a lot of silver/crystals and beads on it. I am planning on wearing silver/crystal jewelry also.
I am really hoping to make my wedding colors ivory, gold, and a variety of purple shades, but I’m worried about clashing with the silver metals. What do you think?
For reference, here is my dress (Lazaro 3261) http://www.jlmcouture.com/Lazaro/Bridal/Fall/2012/Style-3261. Its hard to see the details but there is a lot of beading. There are some crystals up top, and they are set in silver settings.
Here are the earrings I wanted to wear: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/nadri-framed-chandelier-earrings/3195459?origin=keywordsearch&fashionColor=&resultback=5374
HOWEVER, my venue has a lot of ivory/gold tones and the chairs are gold. Would it be a mistake to have lots of gold in the decor with my dress & jewelry? Any comments/suggestions would help!

I don’t think you have to match your venue. Silver accessories will be fine with your venue. But this is coming from a bride with a blush dress and a red venue.

you are the star of the day! You can wear whatver color anything you want. I also agree that you don’t have to match your venue—I’m not a big matchy-matchy person anyway…I wear white and yellow gold jewlry together ALL the time. It’s pretty common these days.
Also, along the same lines, our colors were navy, champagne, and gold—I wore white gold jewley and put on a black sash for the reception. “They” say black and navy don’t mix either!

Girl you can wear whatever you want! And the silver accents on you will not in any way clash with the decor at the wedding. No worries!

Wear whatever you want. Nobody will care or even notice the difference in color

My wedding colors are lilac purple and gold. I plan on wearing gold shoes, but my e-ring is white gold. What should I wear for my other jewelry (earings, bracelet)? Do you think it would be weird to have all white gold / crystal jewelry and gold shoes?

LadyH: I don’t think it will be weird at all! I think it will blend nicely together. My colors are gold, blush, ivory. My engagement ring is white gold and my earrings and bracelet will be platinum with diamonds. Have not decided on shoes yet!

lpena: Thanks! I’ve since decided to wear gold jewelry, but they are mostly crystals and you really cant tell what color gold is on them. I am going to order a few options though; so I can see what works best.
