So I have a question to the bees. Need some assurance…
So my parents went to a wedding this weekend (parent’s are good friends of the bride’s parents). My mom’s best friend went to the wedding as well.
They will be invited to our wedding (well as least the parents will probably come).
The bride wore a similar dress to the one I am thinking of buying (but just haven’t purchased it yet).
I haven’t seen it but it was described by my mother. It’s the ruffles type but she probably wore a ball gown or a line, the raffles start at the waist (or maybe hips area).
While mine is more of a trumpet (with ruffles).
Sorry for the lack of details.
Would it bother you if you went to a wedding now and your dress when you got married is similar to the brides or if you went to a wedding where the bride wore a similar dress to yours? Or I am over thinking?
My wedding is next September so I would be buying around this time.
I don’t want people gossiping or the bride thinking I copied her dress or anything.
I had the dress picked out before her wedding. I am not close with the bride so we would not know the type of dresses we chose.
I know I should not change because of one person but I don’t want to wear a dress similar to someone else. But I love the dress…

Don’t take this the wrong way, please but actually, it is well nigh impossible – unless you design your own bespoke dress – NOT to wear a similar dress to someone else. There are only so many off the peg styles out there.
However, how you look in your dress will be different to any other bride. You are unique. Also, if these weddings are so far apart, nobody will remember what the bride wore at a wedding a year before yours. These details are so important to brides but to be honest, the majority of guests have very little recall of what the dress was like almost immediately after the wedding!
So don’t change what you want to wear on this basis.

Dresses look different on each person PLUS the dresses don’t sound IDENTICAL at all with the different fits.
On top of it all you will have different jewelry, veils, bouquets, etc. Also I’m sure you are not having the same exact guests.
Check out the dresses section on the boards here you see tons of bees with same dresses yet they look SO different. This happens all the time – it just means you both have GREAT sense of taste!
Relax, no worries and you will look beautiful either way !
