asocalbee: If you’re in SoCal, BHDLN is in Beverly Hills, which isn’t that far.

However, if you’re into convenience, check out Zappos and Amazon — great shipping and return policies and they even carry some of the same dresses as BHDLN.

Otherwise, look at Saks / Neimans / Bloomingdales / Nordstrom for Tadashi Shoji, Erin Fetherston, Nicole Miller, Monique Lhuillier and similar dresses

asocalbee: That’s why I refuse to move to SoCal — awesome weather but going anywhere is anything from a 30 min to a 2 hour drive time.

There’s no BHLDN in NorCal though, but there was one in DC. I ducked in really quickly — so pretty but so hard to justify since I got my dress from AMZN on an awesome discount. Some of the dresses at Zappos were also available from BHLDN!

My dress was from J. crew. They don’t have tons of short dresses, but they are simple, well made and silk! Reasonably priced also. I ordered online, they do returns in store if you’re in the US. I’m in Canada, and their customer service was lovely. They have a 24 hour wedding hotline!

asocalbee:  For the most part, everything I’ve bought from there is great quality. With maybe 1 or 2 exceptions. They have a good return policy if the items aren’t final sale. And the customer reviews and pictures are SUPER helpful so definitely scroll through them.

asocalbee:  modcloth is awesome but they are hit and miss because there are different designers. I bought the Elite the Way dress (originally for reception, now using for RD). I like it a lot and I think the quality is good. I’m in love with the seaside ceremony dress right now. They also have a pretty lace full length bridal gown that’s 499. Also AnN Taylor has bridal gowns. For the most part they DONT have that ethereal bhldn look you’re going for but I think there were one or two that did.

finally jcrew bridal gowns are super easy to be picked up preowned. Also, I originally ordered one of their short bridal gowns and didn’t end up keeping it but the quality was excellent for around 250. I think it was the Clara, also comes as a bridesmaids dress

I’ve seen quite a few BHLDN dresses in preownedweddingdresses.com. If you ever happen to be somewhere where there is a store the do have a sale section and maybe you can find something nice there. Also, if you see something nice on the website  try searching online for it because somewhere else might have it for less. They sell regular designers just don’t make the names super clear.

Depending on the look you’re going for, there’s a little boutique in New Orleans that has som gorgeous short dresses that are more of a 1950’s style. They have a really good return policy too. I got my rehearsal dinner dress from them (among many other cocktail dresses). Here’s the website:
