Hi all! So I posted awhile back in regards to what sillouhette would look best on me and it seemed as though something body hugging won out. So I’ve been shopping recently trying to find something simple and elegant since I’m going to host my reception at the carlyle club in DC. It’s been pretty hard pickings since the it thing right now seems to be tons for ruffles, lace, flowers and ruching! I sent this pic off to my sister and she said that it was a bit too plain so maybe a little more but not too much? This is Justin Alexander’s 8965 I believe and I did really like it. Can I get some other suggestions along the same lines? I’ve still yet to try on the dress I really want to – Robert bullock’s kelsey – but I don’t want to be chasing a dress I can’t seem to find. So… Thoughts, suggestions and advice would be much appreciated!

@millermelly: I don’t have any advice, but I think that dress looks amazing on you!

@millermelly: It does look amazing. You don’t necessarily need to add “a little more”” to the dress. Think accessories!!! Head piece, earrings, necklace, bracelet, etc. could make all the difference.

I wore a simple dress, and I loved it! The dress just had some beading on the center of the belt. I was able to accessorize it with a statement necklace and bracelets. It was perfect for me! Maybe you could look into a more blingy belt?

I think the dress is perfection! You could jazz it up with a different belt

I did try on the belt that come with this dress. I’m just not completely sold on the bling. I guess I want the “extra-ness” to be a part of the design of the dress. I’m just hoping to see if any brides have run across anything if this nature while on their search because I seem to be having a hard time 🙁

That dress looks amazing on you!! It’s beautiful!!! I do agree that it’s a little plain, but I would try it with different belts/sashes. They don’t have to necessarily be silver bling, I’ve seen a lot with crystal beading so it it more subtle. Good luck!

That is a beautiful dress!! For similar ideas – the Martina Liana 503 is also quite simple and elegant, and Paloma Blanca has several along those lines too.
I don’t think the dress is too plain, the material is gorgeous and the design – neckline too – are lovely.

You have to get that dress! I absolutely love plain satin dresses in that style, mermaid/fit n flare. The veil looks soooo perfect with it too! The only suggestion I have besides jewelry, like the other bees have said, is a sash with something on it. I know you stated that you don’t like the all bling sash, but what about one with flowers on it? I’ve seen a sash, on say yes to the dress, that had 2 flowers on it and in the center of the flowers were just a little rhinestone or crystal. It was cute, and I’m not a flower wearing person. She wore the belt with the flowers kinda to the side, not directly centered. Anyway, I personally love your dress, love that type of veil (satin edge), and especially love them together. It is just a tiny bit plain, but a different sash will change the whole look.

You said that you wanted the little extra something to be on the dress. The only satin dress that I can think of with a little somethin on it is the Casablanca 1994. But, in my opinion, the Casablanca doesn’t even compare to the simple satin dress.

I think this dress is gorgeous and so flattering on you. I agree with PPs about accersories to add to it. For the ceremony you could do a lace bolero and for reception and dance a nice statement necklace.

I agree with the belt part. If you don’t like beading as much, you can try something with lace, or flowers, or other designs.
That dress looks stunning on you, I think you should go with that one and jazz it up a litte bit! If you REALLY hate belts, you could go with an awesome veil, a really pretty statement necklace, drop earrings, bracelet, or a combination of any and all of those!
Buy that dress! It is amazing!

My dress was a simple satin dress. It had all over rouching, but it was still very sleek. Its La Sposa Fanal. (I don’t have pro wedding pictures yet.)

@millermelly: I think that dress looks absolutely gorgeous on you. Maybe if you add a different belt, like a blingy one. It might make it not so plain, but the silhouette is perfect for you. Good Luck!
