I was wondering what kind of ring you are wearing! Most bees who post here seem to go in for diamond bands. From personal observation, I would also say that my friends/cousins have diamond rings, while the parent/grandparent generation has plain bands.
So I’m curious… is this only a subjective impression, or actually a known trend?

I think in the past few decades it has become more “normal” to wear diamond wedding bands because the diamond marketing industry has overemphasized the need for more bling. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE bling, have a fairly noticeable diamond ring, and will get a diamond wedding band, but SO SO SO many women still wear plain wedding bands with no diamonds. If you go look around the ring boards you’ll see wedding bands of every style.

I think its purely taste. I had a plain white gold band. It was quite lovely! But I also have a solitaire & wanted a diamond band to bling it up because I adore my solitaire. I got a diamond band with tiny diamonds but it wasn’t enough wow factor for me. So I am currently waiting on my new one through the mail. & I am married so its very weird not having one. haha
But get whatever you want! If you want more bling added to your engagement ring then go for a diamond band. If you love the look of a plain band go for it! 🙂 They’re alot of bee’s on here with diamond bands. But I have seen some really lovely plain gold bands on the bee, too!
Here is my engagement ring & my band I am currently patiently waiting for.
My wedding band is a 3/4th length eternity band with .25 carat diamonds.

Mine looks like a plain band and a diamond band together. So I said other (as it’s kind of both).

My ring isn’t the “typical” diamond band, meaning an eternity setting. However, it does have very small diamonds on the sides. It’s similar to this ring from Tiffany’s, but with smaller diamonds:

I chose a diamond half-eternity band with a total of .50 carats in a prong setting because I wanted to bling up my e-ring, which a half carat sapphire with teeny diamonds. Plus, the diamond wedding band looks fabulous on its own too. We are closing the deal next week and I am DYING in the meantime. Lol

@redherring: I believe your band is called or well atleast the diamonds are called scattered diamonds. 🙂 Very pretty!
So scattered diamond wedding band? I think anyways! haha

Mine is white gold with five colored stones across the top, alternating blue (sapphire) and orange (fire opal). I did not have an engagement ring (by choice), so I knew I wanted a wedding band that was different and substantial enough to stand on its own. I *love* it!

At first I wanted a plain gold band to match my fiance’s, but he wanted me to try on the diamond bands too. And we chose a diamond half-eternity band in the end because we were thinking that if I wanted to wear just my wedding band, then I’d still have some sparkle.

I won’t be wearing my band for another two weeks, but it’s a channel set diamond band. I originally wanted a thin, plain band but I eventually decided I wanted a little more sparkle since I only have a very simple solitaire e-ring.

I wear a plain white gold band. When we were looking into wedding bands, I couldn’t decide on a diamond one. When my jeweler friend held my engagement ring up to a plain white gold wedding band, we were sold. I love my plain band. We’ll get a diamond anniversary band in the future.

I can now post pictures of the two together!

I have a plain band but I had to vote for “other” since it’s a euro shank that’s contoured to “rise up” to meet the e-ring but not block the setting of the diamond. I’ll probably get a plain wedding band to wear to work (hospital) and save these big bad gold ladies for days when I don’t have to wear latex gloves.

Plain 2mm yellow gold band for me.
