My mom always says that if she didn't have my dad to worry about, she'd eat tea and toast for dinner every night. I always thought she was kinda crazy but after my husband emailed to say he was working late tonight and not to worry about him for dinner and I made my own dinner I realized.....

I totally do the same thing. I am by nature super lazy and simple when it comes to food. Especially in summer when there is lots of good produce around. If I didn't have my husband to cook for I'd probably not cook at all lol.

My dinner tonight? cheese&crackers, snow peas, an apple, and a tomato mixed with fresh mozzerella and basil oil. Lazy and awesome.

Anyone else have their "single people" food they eat all the time when their s/o isn't coming home for dinner? :)

LOL! Yes! I was just discussing this with another bee today. My hubby thinks a meal is not a meal without meat.

Tonight, he's out with the boys. I had a bean salad with diced onion and red and orange peppers and wild garlic! I am satisfied and there are only 3 dishes to wash!

By the way, that "meal" looks awesome!

yes, whenever DH is out with the guys I make a dinner of cheese, crackers and wine. If I am feeling extra healthy I throw some grapes or apples in the mix.

I love crackers and cheese and fruit. And beer or wine. ;) Actually most dinners are lazy food since we work opposite schedules right now. *sigh*

I'd be all about cheese/crackers, fruit, bagel with cream cheese, cereal - if he wasn't around.  I can always find something in the fridge I can make into something.  I guess his single people food is frozen pizza, tater tots, sandwich stuff...

Ha ha. I'm doing a kind of Atkins thing and I had two hard-boiled eggs (fresh from a farm-yum!) and I would normally have a salad or something I call "my precious" (black beans and cheddar cheese).

It's kind of a burden to have to cook every night when I work, but my husband works so hard, I turn into a geisha girl the second he walks into the house.  Cold beer, snacks, dinner served to him at the table (so he doesn't have to get up) and I do the dishes too:)  He's worth it.

But yeah, if it were just me, I wouldn't bother:)

@Just_Squeeze: exactly! He is definitely a carnivore. Although I do try to cook at least one meal/week with no meat.

@SoupyCat: strangely enough, we both hate cereal lol.

@ohheavenlyday: I love chicken flavored ramen noodles with LOTS of hot sauce mixed in.

@panterapeach: the only thing that bothers me about this is the fact that I didn't think of wine! lol. Might have to remedy that right now...

@BackyardLoveBird: my hubs' single person food is take-out lol. He doesn't cook.

Well, last year, FI was working 80 hour weeks, which included dinner time. It was before he proposed (and before I knew I'd have to wear a wedding dress and look good ;) ) I would eat brie and crackers, and 2 glasses of wine for dinner. Healthy! :0

@CorgiTales: YES! I am no longer in an LDR, and it's bizzarre not eating my "single person" meals all the time...I am a fan of cereal at any time; cheese & crackers & fruit; or whatever randomness is in my fridge.

DH travels most weekends for work from Friday afternoon to Monday morning. I usually find myself eating popcorn at least once (or twice) for dinner each weekend.

If I'm "cooking" dinner for just me, it's usually ramen or one of my favorite super-unhealthy indulgences: elbow macaroni with just butter and salt. If I want to add something that's actually good for me, I'll steam some frozen broccoli, which FI hates.

I had to really think about this one because Fi and I are always eating dinner together.  I'd have to say a low-carb wrap of some kind, usually egg salad, and a low-carb ice cream bar... they're delish.

@CorgiTales: Can I have one with you?

Hmmm, when DH went away for a week it depended. I ate a lot of eggs. I made two dishes that I ate all week and lots of salads (of various types), plain yogurt and boca burgers.

I tend to make a dish for myself and eat tha all week in various ways when he is gone.

    Hahahahahahahaha.

    Okay.

When left to my own devices, I will generally consume the following for dinner:

    -1 giant steak, bloody rare

    -1/2 package frozen green peas

    -1/2 bottle red wine

And then I watch some Zatoichi and pass the eff out. The end. I am awesome.

My "single" person food include dry cereal (who has time for milk?), saltine crackers (about half a sleeve at a time), string cheese, grilled cheese, warm turkey and swiss sandwiches, and lots of fresh fruit.

I'll usually make something he doesn't like, such as liver, or dolmades, lol!

And @CorgiTales: I LOVE your dishes!!! I got my old roommate a set of those mugs, a teapot, and the sugar and creamer set when she got married and she loves it too! Kinda makes me want a set of my own now :)

I tend to go for things that are really easy. Like grilled cheese, Chef Boyardi, Triscuit pizza (Triscuits with tomato sauce and mozzarella thrown in the microwave) and things of that sort. Yogurt is a big one too. Basically anything that doesn't require the oven.

I don't have any single people food but I tease my mom about it all the time. My Dad works shifts so she has a few nights to herself a months. Every single time he isn't home she eats cottage cheese and toast.

kraft dinner. I'll eat the whole damn box.

We never keep wine in the house (it always ends up going bad), but I do have godiva, and I will sip a couple glasses of that.

If I am feeling healthy, I'll eat some pre-cut/washed (thanks hun!) carrots.

I eat cerael all the time! My fi also thinks it's not a meal if there's no meat. Pshhh there's lots of meals! I'm also a huge fan of chips and salsa and melty cheese on tortilla chips. Now I'm hungary...

My husband and I most always eat together, so this occurence is rare...but I really do cherish it, lol. I don't know why but eating alone with a glass of wine is very therapuetic for me. I generally will eat some supermarket sushi (it's actually good) and then a whole bag of popcorn to myself :)

I had an english muffin for dinner just now. I mean, I did toast it first. That's kind of like cooking.

It's just so much effort to cook when it's just you!

Pasta. My go to meal is actually whole wheat rotini with broccoli that I put some sriracha and soy sauce on. I went crazy tonight and did the whole wheat rotini with broccoli, black beans, and rotel.
