- Wedding: August 2013
A few months before I became engaged, I purchased a dress off the website:
It was a BM dress that I wore on my 5 year anniversary get away, (which was when FI proposed btw!), and I’ve worn it to a wedding recently, and got rave reviews. The dress was really well made, the fabric a nice feel, rich color, so I thought now that I’m looking at replica dresses, I might give these guys a go. However, I can’t find a single picture, or review with pics online about these guys. Dressilyme, on the other hand has positive reviews coming from left, right and center! Also, the dress I want for my reception isn’t on Dressilyme’s website, and I had one good experience with Sino… so I’ve been sort of torn and I decided to get fabric samples from both places.
I received the Sino ones today with mixed reviews.
For the replica of Maggie’s Isodora Ann:
This is what they sent me. Ivory satin, organza and the applique they say they will use.
Please forgive the cell phone pics and so so lighting. The ivory is a nice rich dark white, not yellow at all. The organza is nice, thick with a lovely sheen. And the applique is pretty decent. Not really anything like the original, but i’m not a stickler for the details. It’s the shape and design of the Isadora I love best.
So based on these fabric samples, I might give it a go. Plus, Sino said they’d email me pics before shipping.
Now, onto the second set of fabric. I’m in love with this old Mori lee dress, (as some of you may have noticed!)
But it’s discontinued and I’ve looked for pre-owned etc, they don’t exist. So replica is it!!! To me, this dress looks like organza over satin with some sort of applique trim, but when i went to order the samples, I was informed that it was not organza but “fine english netting”… so I said, ok.. and this is what I got.
Ugh. This “fine english netting” seems more like dollar store tulle to me. It’s flimsy and week and I can’t imagine them making that beautiful petaled skirt out of it. Also, the applique is no where near as nice as the other dress, it’s outline in silver (poorly) and there were strings hanging off and it doesn’t look anything close to the pics. So, after seeing these samples, i’m definitely not getting this dress from Sino treasure. I just can’t get over the netting! It’s so weak!
On Dressilyme’s website, this dress is described as “The ball gown wedding dress is made of organza and satin, featuring sweetheart neckline. There are appliques and embroideries as the decoration on the organza.” So that makes me feel better in my guess that the skirt is made of organza and I’m really surprised ST doesn’t make it with organza as well!
Anywho, now I’m waiting for the Dressilyme samples for the Mori lee dress. They don’t have the Isadora on their website but it’s made with satin/organza so i’ll see when it arrives.
I’m almost certain I’m going to go woth Dressilyme, but because I had a good experience with ST earlier this year, I wanted to give them a chance. Isn’t that weird? Feeling loyalty to a replica website. Lol!
