I get massive sinus headaches, so bad I have to have the kids sit and be quiet for the day, as best they can at 4yrs old,LOL. ( I teach.) I have taken Claritin, but that's like popping candy pills for these headaches. :(

I recently took some Acetaminophen and it helped a lot more, although I'm not supposed to take more than 8 in 24hrs. I haven't, just saying.LOL

    What helps y'all the most?

I usually take 2 excedrin migraine and 2 sudafed (the real kind that you have to get at the pharmacy)...something between the two of those can usually knock out one of my headaches.  You have to be careful tho, because excedrin has a daily max, and sudafed can really hype you up.  Might be worth trying, with all those energetic kids!

I get really bad sinus headaches (even sinus migraines sometimes).  I take 2 Sudafed (the good stuff behind the counter) and 2 extra strength tylenol and a cup of coffee.  That will usually help mine.  Also, if you can stand it, use Afrin Sinus.  It really clears up the nasal passages.

I take Aleve for headaches. But I'm on Allegra on a daily basis, so my sinus headaches stay under control for the most part. Otherwise, I try to clear my nose enough to breathe and then take a long nap.

Thanks ladies! I was thinking of going to the doctor to get a prescription! I've only used OTC Claritin..... Undecided...I know better, now.LOL

A prescription is most likely the key! I felt kinda bad trying to make the kids be nice and calm.lol

    Thanks again!

My fi went to the doctor for his sinuses (finally) and he gave him Zyrtec and Flonase and boy have they helped! He doesn't snore as much and it has definately reduce his headaches and sinus problems. He also got a sea spray that helps clear out all the little bacteria that clogs your nose and I have heard nettipot works for sinuses as well, though I do not know about sinus headache. I pretty sure those are caused because of the sinus blockage, inflammation, and pain.

If you have really bad allergies, I'd seriously look into allergy shots. Otherwise, definately try to get a perscription nasal spray as those work the best. You can also try rinsing your sinuses, which sounds gross, but its really helpful. I use this and its really helpful http://www.neilmed.com/usa/index.php

I take Zyrtec every night and I also do a nasal rinse daily.  That will help to clear out the sinuses.  If that isn't enough, you might want to go to a doctor for Flonase or another nasal steriod.

Floridabeachbride, Bean5679 and missasb- Wow, nettipots and  nasal rinses, I don't know why I have never seen these before. I guess I just grab the pills and run out of Walmart.lol I just thought it was so great to have those OTC drugs, but they obviously aren't the same strength.

    Thanks so much!

I find that I get sinus headaches often if i am in a room that is either very warm, or very humid. I take allegra every day, and that usually helps prevent them. I also will take some sudafed, the kind from behind the pharmacy counter, whenever it is really bad. That usually clears it right up.

If you are getting them often, I would go see the doctor, it could be a sign of an infection. My mom gets infections often, but they will give you medicine that clears them up pretty quickly.

I find that Vicks sinus spray gives some relief.

The OTC pills like Zyrtec and Claritin are the same strength as the prescription version.  They just don't work well for congestion issues.

I get sinus headaches almost daily.  I take Zyrtec every night and if  I have a sinus headache in the morning, I take the good stuff behind the counter.  Any generic works for me, but it has to be behind the counter.  If  I take the sinus medicine without the psudopehdrine in it, it doesn't work.

I get the headaches cause I have extra tissue in my nasal passages, but I refuse to do the surgery they want to do.  The surgery where they scrape the excess tissue.
