So at Kayla’s 6 month appointment I told the MD that she was really intrested in drinking out of our cups. She told me to go ahead and try with different types of sippy cups and regular cups and let her drink some water, etc so she gets used to using the different muscles of her mouth. She said that the anti spill ones you may have to remove the valve so that it it easier for her to drink.
We had tried a few different kinds of sippy cups and I didn’t really want her to continue to suck on the cups since that’s not exactly the proper way to drink out of a cup! 🙂 So I was kinda frustrated since the ones that you don’t need to “suck” or bite (another thing I didn’t really want her learning) spill all over, and the ones that don’t spill you have to suck! Ugh, so she didn’t get it.
We finally found a bottle brand 2 weeks ago that she caught onto right away and now is able to get it and drink water on her own without my help so I thought I would share incase anyone else is about to try this or was interested! They are tommee tippee brand and are spill proof and she doesn’t have to suck or bite, she just has to put her mouth around it and press down a little bit. We got them at Babies R Us for anyone interested. I hope this may help someone! 🙂
