MB sleeps pretty much all day.  Literally, she sleeps all. the. time!  Her daycare loves her because she takes an hour nap when she gets there, then a lunchtime hour nap, then a two to three hour afternoon nap.  She's awake maybe two hours at daycare.  And once home in the evening she takes either a one hour nap then a two hour nap, or skips the short one and takes one long three hour nap.

Our pede insists that it's within normal and that there's nothing wrong.  She's developmentally ahead of average, so I haven't worried too much but I swear she sleeps more than the dog!

Anyone heard of anything like this?

I have a 13 month old in my care that sleeps from about 915 til 1015 then 1145-2 then 4-5 and his mom says he is in bed from 730-7sh every night.  His mom feels like he's almost constantly in a growth spurt (he's wearing 18mo and sometimes 24mo clothing) and justifies it that way. Ultimately his Dr isn't concerned so she just lets it happen. I guess some children just need more sleep than others.

All of my kids were amazing sleepers when they were going through growth spurts!  Could it be that?

Warren is a sleeper too. He's only awake 6-7 hours a day and sleeps the rest. He only eats 4 times a day! Most of the time he goes 5 hrs between his 1st and 2nd meal of the day. I figure if he's not screaming, I'm not going to worry about it :)

    Cycle.  Wake/Eat (1.5 hrs) - Nap (3 hrs) - Wake/Eat (1.5 hrs) - Nap (2 hrs) - Wake/Eat (1.5 hrs) - Nap (1-2 hrs) - Wake/Eat (1.5 hrs) - Down for the night.

The last two nights he's been bucking the system and waking up every 1-2 hours at night. Not sure what is happening with my 'superstar' :) I was thinking a growth spurt might be making him more hungry? Though usually sticking a paci in his mouth and he's back to sleep - so he doesn't really need to eat.

@BanditGirl: She just had a checkup and she has actually fallen from the 90th percentile to the 75th percentile in height/weight.  Is there an opposite of a growth spurt?  A growth stunt?  lol

@jilian: That makes me feel better.  That's a lot like her sleep habits too.  Lots and lots of sleep interrupted by lots of activity, talking, and trying to crawl.

We tried keeping her awake, but she gets SUPER crabby.  Her eyes get all red and she just screams until she gets a paci and a bed.

I feel like she's hardly ever awake to interact with.  She always falls asleep when I take her shopping or jogging.  She falls asleep at church.  I was so jealous this weekend though, she was WIDE AWAKE when I went to the homeless shelter (soup kitchen day on Thanksgiving), then I came home and she was asleep again.  Boo.  DH gets all the fun!

My daughter slept a LOT for the first 2 years of her life. Now she doesn't nap at all... Gosh, I miss the napping days!

Oh yeah!  Addie sleeps 15 - 16 hours a day.  She's usually only up for about 2 hours in between naps, but I can stretch it to 3 hours once in a while if we're out doing something.  The good thing is that it makes me feel less like I'm missing out on stuff when she's sleeping all day with the nanny.  :)
