Aww! How frustrating! It took me a few weeks of research and we looked at three places (all in the same area) in order to decide.  But the Santa Cruz Mountains in California have lots of venues.

Your info says you’re in Sweden? Any more specific info?

I would prioritize what you want- look for places in budget that allow outside catering first.  Then look at the appearence.  Its amazing what decorations can do to change the look and feel of a place, so that where I’d try to be the most flexible. Also try to look for unconventional places that could host an event.  I’m not sure how things work in Sweden, but I know in the U.S brides can find some great deals at church hallls, barns on actual farms, club halls for groups like the VA, the Shriners etc. I hope you find something soon!

Why do you want to bring in outside catering? Find a beautiful place that uses their own catering/kitchen and has good reviews. Have you thought about having it at a restaurant?

I went through the same thing. Unfortunately you’re going to have to give up something if you are cutting it close. I gave up having outside catering. Depending on the venue you pick if the décor isn’t something you like there are TONS of things you can do within budget to make it to your liking.

I couldn’t find anything that allowed us to bring our own food, alcohol, was decently close to home, that I LOVED.

I ended up settling for something that I don’t love, but its close to home, very good rental rate, and can bring our own stuff. It’ll need a bit more decorating, but that’s okay.

Sometimes you have to take the best you can find, 2 out of 3 isn’t bad.

I am planning a DW in Puerto Rico. I have been looking for over a year. I refuse to settle. I am looking for an unspoiled area of the rainforest for the ceremony. 🙁

Check large homes…..lakefront houses, theaters, restaurants.  Not sure of your vision but the posibilities are endless!  Just time to get a little more creative.  Good luck and happy planning!

check for estates or mansions, perhaps a bed and breakfast type setting if you’re having a small wedding.  If you’re getting married at a church, a lot of them have halls with kitchens where you could have your food prepped & stored and you could have the reception all in one spot.

Don’t assume that the inside caterer won’t allow a desert only reception, they may not advertise it as a possibility but I’m learning that just about anything is possible.
