One of my bridesmaids is a 2 and she ordered a 6. She didn’t need any alterations. She isn’t busty though so that may have helped. Every dress designer is different.

@TwoOneFive:  Okay so I haven’t been a size 0-2 in years so I can’t comment from personal experience but the chick at the bridal shop sounds INSANE.  I had to size up to a size 10 for a BM dress when I was a size 8.  I agree with you about the alterations ploy.  Go back and ask them for a size 10 dress and try it on in front of them.  Are we talking David’s Bridal here or a different store?

My sister is a size 2-4 (only because of her height- she is super skinny) and ordered a size 6.  Most companies have the sizing charts available online.  I’d probably measure yourself and see where it falls… but I’m thinking a 6 or 8 makes more sense.

@TwoOneFive:  Go by what the dress shop suggests. The measurements they take are specific to the design and fit of the dress. In everyday clothes theres more strecth and wiggle room with the fabric and structures of clothes. Often with formal dresses there is no wiggle room.

It is well known that in the bridal world, the sizes are WAY off from street size.

* A good thing to do, is go to another dress shop which has the same dress… get measured there and see if they suggest the same size. (Also compaire prices, it may be cheaper somewhere else).

I’m a size 0-2, usually closer to a 0 in dresses, and my After Six BM dress for my friend’s wedding was a 4 and my Mori Lee wedding gown is also a 4.

Mine were across the board. One’s who’s teeny tiny and always a 0 or 00 got a 0 but couldn’t wear a bra with it to get it to zip up. My sister who is a 2-4 got a 4 and it fit perfectly. Another girl who is a teeny bit smaller than my sister got a 2 and it was too big. I would definitely not get a 10!!

Can’t they find you something to try on to give you an idea? The dress in any color in a 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12? A different dress by the same designer?

@TwoOneFive:  That sounds way off to me but who knows. I’m also petite 0 and I got a size 0P in a JCrew BM dress. In hindsight, I needed a 2P because the dress was hard to zip up. But yeah I can’t imagine going up more than 1 or 2 sizes?

I was a bridesmaid in May. I swear somewhere between a 1-3 street size and my bridesmaids dress was a 4 and I didn’t have to have it altered at all.

@TwoOneFive:  My size 0 bridesmaid ordered a size 2 and it fits perfectly from davids bridal. She said the 0 would have been too snugs and this was more comfortable for her so I am glad they had her get the 2!

@TwoOneFive:  Vera Wang by David’s Bridal. They don’t order them in the same “lot” like most bridesmaids dresses, so I think they were all cut a little different.
