I think it depends on how often you want to refill them. :) Let's see, a 7 quart chafing dish holds 50-60 servings. So you'll probably want at least four 7 quart chafing dishes for the sides (2 dishes for each side) with plans to fill each one up once. Depending on the size of your meat portions, I would probably rent at least two, if not three, 7 quart chafing dishes. You'll need to fill up the meat dishes probably 2 times (or more, depending on your cut sizes).
Thank you for the info Mrs. Spring, defintiely helpful!! :)
I'm revisiting this in the budget today, so wondering if anyone else has some tips?

We are self-catering a BBQ for 150 people.
Here are the sizes of chafing dishes our local renter has:
3 qt round
4 qt square
4 qt round
7 qt square
Anyone have any experience with these sizes? We plan on having 2 hot sides (corn and mac n cheese) and then the main meat.
Which sizes would be appropriate?
