I know this is a weird question, but I over think everything LOL.
Mine engagement ring is 2.2ct. I have a 1.6 center stone and my side stones are .3 each. I am looking at getting a 5 diamond shared prong wedding band. What should the total ct weight be for the band so it looks in proportion with the engagement ring. Any suggestions? Would .25 per stone, 1.25 tw look okay?
It’s so hard because I won’t see it until it’s made so it’s not like I can try it or for comparison.

I think its kinda hard to say without seeing pics and knowing more details. What shape are the diamonds in the wedding band and E-Ring?
I had my wedding band custom made. I didn’t know what the final carat weight would be (although I never asked) until it was finished. Don’t you get to see a wax mold of the ring? I don’t remember if I paid more for the mold or not but it was really helpful because it let me see exactly how the finished product would look.
Sorry, probably not much help. On a side note…my E-Ring is the same size as yours and my wedding band is .75 carats.

It’s really about balance. For me, I wanted the focus to be on my engagment ring. I wanted something more delicate. Really it’s what you like and feels right. Good luck!

Well…we aren’t really going to know what it would look like either without seeing it on your finger, dear! 😉 But, for a five-stone, you would be limited in how big the stones could be based on your ring size — I don’t know if I could even fit five 25-point stones across my tiny finger. And, for a five-stone, I personally would want them to span the whole width of the top of my finger, no more, no less. Whereas, some people might want a little metal showing on the sides (from the top). So, it’s up to what look you are aiming for, combined with the finger coverage you’re working with.
You are probably going to have to just go to a jeweler and try on some 5-stones, to see what you think looks good on your finger. Because you’re right, without being able to try something on, it’s very difficult to decide.

My engagement ring is a princess cut with trillion side stones and my band would be all princess cuts.
@Kelmac- I am having my band custom made since I want it to form to my engagement ring. I guess I should ask for a mold, I had 7 done before my engagament ring was perfect lol.
@littlemissmango- That’s my problem, I can’t even see it on my finger until it’s done! I have tried a couple five stone rings on but they don’t have any curved or in princess cut so it’s hard to tell with the round. But the jewler recomended that I do 5 stones to go end to end on the top of my finger, I have a 5.5 so he thinks that is what works the best. But we have been looking at a ton of loose stones so it’s so hard to tell.
I guess I will just have to trust the experts! I will post pictures when it’s done!

both my e ring and wedding band are around 1 ct total, give or take a few. Like others said, it’s all about balance! can your jeweler make you a mock up in photoshop or autocad?
