So my fiance and I really hate the idea that our guests only get one line to sign their name on in our guest book at the wedding. It reminds me of the book you sign your name in at a funeral… not very fun.
So for our guest book, we were planning on decorating up a regular hard-bound sketchbook instead and put a sign next to it that says something along the lines of ‘take up as much or as little space as you would like (just don’t go overboard!) and sign your name, draw us a picture, tell us a story or whatever your heart desires!’
The problem is, we have about 100 guests coming, and I don’t want a huge line backed up because people are taking the time to draw a masterpiece or something.
So what I was thinking is to put the guest book in an open area and just let everyone know to sign at any time, just please don’t forget! Do you think this would be a bad idea? Too many people would forget to sign it? Or would it be awesome?
Have any other ideas for me? 🙂

i think that sounds like a good idea!
most guestbook options have more than one line for people to sign though…those are pretty outdated. you could also get 2 smaller sketchbooks so that 2 people can sign at once.

I think a sketchbook is such a great idea!
Are you having a DJ? At a recent wedding the bride had her DJ make an announcement toward the end of the wedding reminding guests to sign the guest book on their way out if they hadn’t done so already.

I think if you have it available all night, people can avoid a line-up and just come back to add to it later in the night. 🙂 Sounds like a great idea!

We do have a DJ, and I was thinking about that. Maybe remind them once after dinner and once at the end of the night. 🙂

I love the sketch book idea but it will have to be executed properly. We are doing a guest book puzzle…so everyone signs a piece of the puzzle and then it is cut together. I think I am going to have my niece and cousin (around 12 years old) watch over this task to make sure everyone signs the right side of the piece! 🙂

That sounds like an awesome idea! Definitely write back after the wedding with how it comes out if you end up going that route!
