So in the past few cycles, my periods have been seeming kind of light. This current one seems particularly skimpy. Normally, I’d be like, “Yes! This is awesome!” but since I’m going to start TTC this month, I naturally wondered if this meant anything re: hormone levels or fertility. Does anyone have any info on why period flow varies, and what it means if it’s getting lighter?

@IAmTheShadow: I’m not sure but I started having three days of a light period for the last six months and I’m pregnant now!

@IAmTheShadow: I’m not TTC or anything, but my obgyn has told me that it could be from different things, such as exercise, stress ect.
So sometimes it’s hard to say.
Tho take what I say with a grain of salt. I’m not a doctor.
I wish you the best of luck tho. 🙂

@IAmTheShadow: I too was concerned that my periods were extremely light and short since coming off of the pill. I raised these concerns to my GP and he sent me for an ultrasound to check my uterine lining. Sometimes a lighter period can be indicative of a thin uterine lining, which if too thin can make it difficult to support a healthy pregnancy. In my case, my lining was adequate so obviously it can be perfectly normal to have lighter periods. 🙂

I have always had very light periods- never really been able to use a tampon. But I conceived both my daughters on the very first try each time. So at least in my case, a very light flow meant nothing!

Thank you so much for your replies – I feel reassured that it’s probably just a normal variation & probably won’t be a problem for us to conceive. Thanks, ladies!

Hello, I can only tell you that my periods have been skimpy for the last year, since coming off birth control. They seem normal upon starting but then quickly taper and are very light for only one or two day sand then maybe spotting for another day or two after that. I was worried, but I did get pregnant…so far so good.
