Happy Saturday, Bees! I hope your weekend has been treating you well thus far. : )
I am a little confused as to what my skin is doing right now. When I was younger (junior high/high school years), I suffered from major acne outbreaks. Because of this, I took better care of my skin than what most people my age did. As I have gotten older, I luckily grew out of the breakouts. A pimple shows up every now and again, but it’s nothing major. Ever since I had tried Proactiv and it didn’t work for me, I tried cheaper, basic brands like Clean & Clear, Neutrogena, etc. As I entered my 20’s, I switched over to brands like Olay and Aveeno. While these brands are great, I decided that I am at the age where I can afford better skincare. I feel that at the age of 22, I’m in between keeping my oily skin at bay to prevent dead skin cell build up and avoid acne, and also preventing fine lines and wrinkles.
Sooo, I did some research. I have heard great things about Clinique’s 3 Step Skincare system, and the fact that I could go to the counter and get tailored skin care to my needs sounded perfect. $65.00, and a week later, my skin seems less oily, my pores are smaller, my skin radiance is gorgeous. My skin has seriously never looked better! My issue is: I’m getting tiny pimples here and there where I would not consider my skin to be very oily! They are just small comedones (so not whiteheads or blackheads), and they go away within a day or two when I apply my e.l.f. Zit Zapper (seriously, works miracles!)
I’ve been applying new Clinique foundation as well to my new skincare routine, but I’m getting pimples even where I don’t apply to make-up. Clinique is supposedly one of the best brands you can put on your face, as far as being calming with no fragrances, non-drying, etc. I have never been sensitive to any make-ups or cleansers before, so I highly doubt my skin is having a “problem” with the Clinique line. Is my skin just getting used to these products? Are these tiny comedones a result of the products bringing out the “crap” that were in my pores before I began using them? I don’t touch my face, and when I apply anything to my face with my fingers (like moisturizer), I use a hand sanitizer beforehand. My make-up brushes are also clean.
