I’m 25 weeks, and up until now, as my belly got bigger my skin just went with it (plenty of room). Just this week, my skin feels really taut, like it’s at its limit. I feel like I’m going to wake up tomorrow with giant cracked stretch marks all over my abdomen.
I know it sounds nuts, but does anyone else feel like their skin is stretched to its breaking point? For Bees that have been there, did you erupt into stretch marks soon after? I have stretch marks on my breasts and thighs from puberty, so I know I’m going to get them. But this is so uncomfortable!

@ZoeyGirl: I never experienced my skin feeling stretched to the max. But I didn’t have stretch marks before pregnancy and i got them around 32 weeks I think

I get stretch marks around 20 weeks, and I wasn’t really that big yet. It totally sucks, but what can you do? Only time will tell what your skin will do.

I had that feeling around 30-32 weeks. My skin felt so, so tight all the time, and I’d even get little twinges on the roundest parts of my belly that I was sure were stretch marks happening.
I’m 37 weeks now and still don’t have a single one! 😀 And that over-tight feeling eventually went away. Just keep drinking lots of water, moisturize and cross your fingers. I’ll keep mine crossed for us both.

@bunnymama: Oooh that’s so encouraging! I’m downing a glass of water right now, thanks!

@ZoeyGirl: I was seriously pathetic about it too. No joke. There was one evening where my DH and I were driving down a bumpy road and every bump we went over made my belly feel tight and pulled, and I actually cried because I was so sure my belly was going to look like a roadmap by the time we got out of the car. Hooray for hormones. 😛

Sorry for the gross pic but my skin was so tight that I felt the same way. I thought my skin would just rip open.I had no stretch marks until after delivery but not bad ones (only on my hip bones). This photos was about 4 weeks before I had our DD. The tight feeling never ever went away, but keeping my belly moisturizer and drinking lots of water helped some. Seriously, leaning over or twisting scared the crap out of me!!
ETA: I posted the pic to show that my skin was shiny on my belly bc it was stretched so tight! I really felt like if you scratched it lightly it’d pop like a balloon 🙂

@ZoeyGirl: I’m 39w3d, and I have had that “can’t stretch any further” feeling on and off since about 24 weeks. I actually got a few stretch marks from doing a backbend in yoga, but after moisturizing 2x/day, they went away, and I haven’t gotten any new ones. Anytime my belly feels really stretched, I find it usually feels a bit better by peeing. Every spare inch counts!
I can’t believe how big my belly has stretched now that I’m almost full term. I remember being at my 28 week appointment and asking my Dr how much bigger I will get and he just looked at me with a smile and said “oh, a LOT bigger!” It’s amazing what our bodies can accommodate!

I felt that way at 34 weeks… And promptly got stretch marks 🙁 the good news is, they haven’t seemed to get any worse!

I felt that way off and on at around 25 weeks, but now at 33 weeks and no stretch marks yet.
