Hey guys. I was just wondering if anyone knows if your sleep timings can affect ttc efforts? My hubby works nights-one week on, one week off. He started this job a few months ago, and it has really messed with our sleep schedules. I have trouble sleeping at home alone, so now I’m up all night, and don’t sleep until he gets home around 8 am. We’ve been trying for about 3 months now, and I’m starting to get nervous that something is “off”.

@PakiBee03: Hmm I haven’t heard anything like that, BUT it could be stress from the sleep schedule that may be causing some issues. Hopefully someone has something better than that, but I haven’t heard of sleeping cycles being a problem.

Honestly I don’t think it does, well at least not given my experience. When we were TTC I was working a job that had me working 6 days away from home at a time for 17.5 hours per day. When I finally was home (for three days at a time) ALL I wanted to do was sleep. We still managed to get knocked up.

Yes, a lack of sleep and odd sleeping habits can have a negative effect on efforts to conceive.
Here’s an article that may be helpful: http://www.parenting.com/article/sleep-key-conceiving
Googling or searching “sleep and conceiving” (or anything to that effect), which is what I did, will bring up lots of helpful articles and websites.
