We’re getting the same bouncer you posted, but more so I can put her in it while I take a shower etc. Her pack n’ play comes with a bassinet that she will sleep in at night. We’re also getting the snuggabunny swing. I think if you want her to sleep in it at night, I would probably go with the sleeper.

@megz06:  I picked up a rock and play like your second link to keep downstairs. I’m also gettjg a swing/bouncer similar to the first. I think they have different functions. The bouncer your first posted is not intended for much more than naps and chilling- not overnight. I think it is the angle. The second is better for sleeping longer than a nap. Some comments had been that babies tend to get a flat head from the rnp. I dont know if there is truth to tht.

I plan to get a bassinet or a pack n play w a bassinet for my room. Personally I feel this is he best overnight option until he goes into his crib!

@megz06:  This will soley be used in my bedroom and downstairs later for naps. I have a crib purchased for his room. The pack and play mattress is not as supportive/comfortable as a crib mattress, so I suggest not using as a crib.

I don’t know much about the Graco car seats. I am getting a Chicco KeyFit 30 and picked up the KeyFit Caddy snap n go at a consignment sale last month.

@megz06:  yup! this stuff is so confusing.

Have you looked at Lucie’s List? And the the book Baby Bargains. Both of those were really great resources for helping me figure things out!

I’m also getting a pack and play to put in our bedroom for the baby to sleep in at night. I looked at other bassinet/sleeper options but it seems like you wouldn’t get a lot of use out of them before the baby outgrows them. The pack and play can be used for a much longer time. There are some really cute ones with mobiles and stuff too.

I’ll probably get a cheap bouncer for him to sit in during the day too…something that’s portable so I can move it from room to room to put him in it when I have a shower, make dinner, etc.

I am so glad someone posted this… I too was and still kind of am having the same dilemma.  I have a bouncer for the baby which he likes to sleep in and since he only sleeps like 2-3 hours at night, I let him sleep in it.  BUT I really wanted a rock and play sleeper and am still thinking I might get one… but not sure. Baby will be a month old on the 29th so I am still looking into it.  He does not really like to chill in the bouncer as yet, just sleep in it.

I also have a pack and play with bassinet attachment and he naps in there during the day time because it’s in his room and it’s basically his crib.  We decided to not get a crib and instead got a mattress for the pack and play so it’s more comfortable for baby.  It comes with vibration too which baby loves.

I had a crib with my 1st two and a pack and play with my 2nd and 3rd and I just love the pack and play.  My 3rd went from his pack and play straight to a full bed. Also my dh hates cribs so this was the best option for us… the pack and play is small, portable and just a better choice for us.  Baby also naps in his swing too when I need to get stuff done.

DH and I have a 4 level (split level) house. Our bedrooms are on the top level, The entrance, living room kitchen on the “3rd,” walk out patio, family room and guest room on “2nd” and basement on the bottom. DH spend most of his time in the family room amd I’m usually in the living room. Because of this we have decided to get a crib for the nursery, this Pack N’ Play with bassient (the bassinet will be in the our room and the Pack n’ Play will be in family room with DH) and we will have a rocker of some sort in the living room with me. This way there is a place for LO to rest no matter the level.

@megz06: FYI- I was talking to a friend at the gym this morning and she had the rock n play in her bedroom for the first few weeks and the pack n play w/ changer & bassinet on the first floor. i guess it’s really whatever works!
