Ive been having problems sleepingsince I found out I’m pregnant. I’m 6 weeks today. Ive no problems getting to sleep. In fact I’d sleep at 8pm if I could get away with itvbutwghich try to hold off until 10. However, I wake up in the middle of the night, usually around 4 and can’t get back to sleep.
Im wondering if this is normal? Does anyone have any recommendations about anything that helps with it?

Totally normal. I was this way for the first couple of weeks but it fades as you get more exhausted in the first tri. My guess is that you will be back to sleeping regularly in a week or so! Unfortunately, it does come back around the third tri.

Yep, totally normal. I’m doing the same thing. However, I do go to bed at about 9. I’m up at 3am playing candy crush until at least 4am when I feel like I can finally get back to sleep. It happens every night without fail.
What time did you go to bed before you got pregnant?
edit: I’m 8w3d and this has happened to me since I got my BFP at week 4, so hopefully it won’t last as long for you.

Thank your hormones! Totally normal, it gets better then it gets worse at the end.

@DaneLady: Thanks guys! Nobody IRL has said anything about this! At least I know it’s normal! I spend my time on WB which probably isn’t the best as it keeps me awake! Before I’d go to bed at about 1030-11pm. Yesterday I had a nap during the day and was asleep last night before 10.
Kate, that’s hilarious! I think it’s about 3am-4am for me too, though sometimes longer!

@phoebephoebo: I’m 31 weeks and that’s how it is still for me. I felt more energetic during the 2nd trimester but the exhaustion plus late night wake ups are back. Prep for baby???

@phoebephoebo: Normal and might not get any easier in later weeks because of how frequently you will have to pee at night (I am up about 2 times) or just hormones in general.
I found getting a pillow like the Snoogle helped me to get comfy and stay comfy for most of the night. 3-4 still rolls around for me, and it is harder to go back to sleep once I go to the bathroom, but I do eventually. Just try to hit the sheets early and don’t avoid naps for fear of not sleeping at night.

Anyone else wake up drenched in a cold sweat? Last 3 nights my pj’s are soaked but I’m freezing cold.

I’m almost 15w, and I still wake up around 3-4 every night. I’m usually awake for an hour or so and then doze until the alarm goes off at 615. I’ve tried to combat it by going to bed earlier– I lay down around 830 and fall asleep around 915 or 930 to give myself some extra time. Good luck!

oh great, I’ve been getting this the past week and I have BFN’s! I usually wake up at 1am or 4am to pee or both, but this week i’ve been wide awake after peeing, just sitting up and on my phone. probably nothing, but just worth to note. lol

That’s pretty normal. I’m in my third trimester and I still wake up around 4:00 every morning.

It will probably get a bit better in your second trimester, but just wait until the third trimester! I wake up at 3am every morning (and that’s not including the 3 or 4 times I stumble to the restroom half asleep).

@sunshinebee: your sugar may be dipping in your sleep! you may want to eat a light snack before bed. it would probably help!
