Well, most of the time, when I do a sand or unity ceremony, because the actual action only takes 30 seconds, we don't have any music play. And if we do - like the wedding I did yesterday - it was just some background piano playing that the ceremony musician did on the fly, and ended when we were done. Do you have to have music play? Or could you find a piece that is only 30 seconds long (or ask your DJ to fade up and fade down to take the song you want and just play it for 30 seconds)?
I think a slide show or just playing music while you are pouring the sand would be really neat!
yeah, that could work! I guess I never even thought about that since every other one I've ever seen did it the way I described. and it's just sooo awkward! haha
a friend of mine from work - who just got married two weeks ago - did this!!!! not exactly during the candle ceremony - but during the ceremony itself.
The preacher turned to everyone and said, "Now Stacy & John would like to share with all of you memories and pictures of their life together" (or something like that) - and, set to music - they played a really cool picture slide show during the ceremony. it was awesome. :)
personally, i think a slide show would go best at the reception, but i'm sure whatever you do will be well received.
I think that would be nice. If you have a special song you want played during the ceremony, you could do the sand ceremony for the first 30 seconds or whatever it takes you and then have the slide show start when you're finished.
I'm having our pastor speak all of the way through the ceremony to avoid the weird "staring at each other" part of the sand thing. If we had a musician, we might consider having them play a little as well. But I'd rather keep things moving right along.
I would be afraid that the slideshow would be too distracting because everyone would look off to the presentation wall/screen. I think music would be the most fitting during the sand ceremony.

Have you ever seen anyone do a slideshow after their sand ceremony? (or unity candle) Here's my thing - I really want to do the sand ceremony, but every wedding I've been to where they do that or the candle, that part takes like 10 seconds and then they just stand up there for the rest of the time that the song is playing. That just seems SO awkward to me. I mean I'm already freaked out about all the attention on me.... and standing up there for that long with nothing going on.... ugh, makes me want to throw up a little. haha So I was thinking a short, but fast moving slideshow to start right when we finish until the song is over. What do you think?
