For those of you are having a slideshow during your reception, what do you think is a good lenghth? I am trying to keep it 9-10 minutes, but even then I feel like it’s too long. Anything shorter however you can’t show too much of tell a story. Let me know what you’re doing!! Thanks!

Is there a designated time you’re going to make guests watch it or will it play continually in the background? 10 minutes TOPS for the first option…can’t be long enough for the second.

@daybyday: There will be a designated time for it. I was also thinking 10 minutes is max. Thanks!

@Burtongirl: Honestly for me as a guest 1 second is too long. This is usually the time I head out to the ladies room or get a breath of fresh air. If I am at your wedding then I know you and I don’t need to see a slideshow of you as a baby, child or through your relationship.

@Burtongirl: 10 mins is WAY too long.
Personally forced watching is too forceful for me. Like u are going to sit and watch a show about me, me, me.
The shorter the better, and definitely not more then 1 song.
If you play it in the background it can be anything.

I would say 5 minutes.
Mine was 30 mins BUT was running in the background at my rehearsal dinner. No one actually “had” to watch it and I think most people only saw a few photographs. That was fine.

i would say one or two songs tops. perhaphs durning your first dance playing in the background, or wedding party dance. tops of 5 mins. Unless you just want it running in background whole night, then it doesnt matter how long it is.

I was just at a wedding where there was one playing on a loop at cocktail hour, no requirement to watch. Perhaps that could be an option? I liked that. People sort of just looked at it at their leisure.

5 minutes if you’re having everyone watch at the same time. Any more than that, and it becomes a chore for your guests.

After the second baby photo Ive seen enough. Seriously after 30 seconds id get bored. If you just put it on for people to watch, but don’t stop the show then make it however long you want.

Honestly? I hate when people force you to sit and watch a slideshow. I LOVE when they play in the background and I can watch at my own leisure.

I don’t know how long the one at the last wedding I went to was, but if felt like forever! It must have been at least 15 minutes. They announced it after dinner and we were all supposed to sit and watch, it was way too long.
I think if people are supposed to stop what they are doing and watch, about 5 minutes (or like PP suggested, two songs). If it will just be on in the background it can be longer.

@j_jaye: +1 Slideshows are painful.
I agree they’re okay when they’re on in the background though. Longer then 5 minutes is WAY too long.
