Yes, the cramping is horrible. it's one of those symptoms nobody really talks about, and it makes you totally freak out. I've had some that feels like period cramps, some that feel like bad digestion, and some, like when I laugh or sneeze, that are a sharp sudden pain on one side. Supposedly the period ones are from your uterus stretching and growing, and the sudden ones are your round ligaments (the things that hold your uterus in place) twinging. My dr. said whenever I experience the period-like cramps, to lie/sit down and wait for it to pass. So long as there's no bleeding or spotting along with it, you're good to go. If you notice any, call your doc immediately. I'm 10 1/2 weeks, and have had cramping since the beginning. Soooo ready to get past the first trimester and stop worrying that every little twinge is a bad sign.
I second everything sand dollar told you...it was the same way with me. I got especially freaked out by the sharp pains on one side at first, because I thought "What if this is a sign of ectopic pregnancy?" It really is normal though...and now that I'm at 12 weeks (just hit that milestone today), I'm breathing a lot easier!
same here- i got period-like cramps on and off until about week 7. i still get the sharp twinges of pain higher on my tummy from time to time (im 11 weeks). i hear it's all normal, so i don't think you have anything to worry about :)
My OB told me to drink water to help relieve the cramps. Sure enough, it helped! It didn't help with having to pee all the time though.
Cramping (also fairly slight) was actually part of the way I figured out I was pregnant....I felt cramps in the shower the day I took the test(s).
Ditto to Sand Dollar. Doc said it's your body trying to stretch to accommodate everything. Eventually it just gives up and your abdomen stretches and your belly pokes out beyond your pubic bones.
I did find it very disconcerting.
Yep...I just tested the other day....so I am 4 weeks and the cramping was one of my first symptoms
And I am glad that I have seen that it can last a little while because if I didn't have cramping and then a couple more weeks I started, I would think something bad was happening
WHY does no one really talk about this?! What a great way to make ladies freak out!! :-)
Thank god in this day and age of google, I was able to google and learn what is was :-)
Chalk this up to one of the biggest things I do NOT understand about pregnancy... I had pretty awful cramping from four weeks all the way through the first trimester. Cue mad googling of symptoms and asking at every doctor's appointment if it was normal. Apparently it's normal. (The only thing they seem to care about is if you have any bleeding along with it = should get checked out.) Why the heck nobody talks about it I will never understand!
I was so worried about this also... Im at 15 1/2 weeks and I still get the cramping... Its not as servere as the beginning but non the less present.
I also agree that it seems the be the only symptom no one talks about. Luckily i have a friend who is 7 weeks ahead of me and she calms my nerves :)
