So, my fiance and I are having an outdoor tented reception, so of course we have to supply our own tables. Well, my Fiance is on the fire department and said “we can just use the tables from the dept, they are free.” FREE, awesome! I like free.
Then today we were at the dept for the pancake breakfast and talking to the Chief, so my Fiance asked him if we could use the tables (I thought this was already taken care of). Chief is like, “yeah, you can use the ones out here (crappy ones) unless someone books something here for that weekend and needs them.” I don’t know about anyone else, but not having guaranteed tables is NOT COOL. I don’t want to find out the week of our wedding that someone booked the dept and needs the tables and we are S.O.L.
So anyway, I’m aggravated because I thought we had tables and it was all taken care of and now we need to find some to rent. We have the time and I know we can get them from the tent company, I was just already planning on having free tables!
Ok, I feel better.

Yeah… I’d probably go ahead and rent them. Not being guaranteed and the fact that they are “crappy” tables sucks.
Sorry it didn’t work out. I know how frustrating that is.

Free is great, but if you can’t get them for sure, then I’d do something else.
However, if you are planning on throwing tableclothes over them, what does it matter what the tables look like. I’d look into actually renting them from the FD first. Rental tables aren’t going to be anything special. Might be cheaper to get them from the FD, if you can get a contract that guarantees you get them for your event.

i will definitely rent them… i will be so worried to not have tables confirm until the last minute

How often are they needed though? If it’s a once a year type thing, then I wouldn’t worry. If it’s more often, while I don’t know much about this, maybe you could talk to a rental place and just put a refundable deposit down until you know either way.

Free is great, but you can’t count on it. I would go ahead a rent them for sure.

Good thing you found out now and not in August or something awful like that! Doesn’t it feel good to vent? 🙂 I’m sure everything will work out great!
