  • Wedding: October 2013  My husband and I just purchased a new sofa and wanted one that was 100% sipcovered due to our two dogs and potential children in the future.

We had a HELL of a time finding one that didn’t look like this:

We wanted something more modern looking, larger and MACHINE WASHABLE, which was another issue.  MANY slipcovers are dryclean only, which will cost a freaking fortune.

We ended up going with this puppy in this color (it also has came with two pillows on the side which arent shown in any of the pictures for some reason)

It’s machine washable, the fabric hides dog hair, it’s comfortable and it came in a 7ft length without looking like something out of a “rustic” home decor ad.  It took us about 6 months to find one we liked and was machine washable.  It’s from Restoration Hardware, and they also have literally like 70 different slipcovers if we ever want to change the color. I’ve been REALLY happy with it so far.

I know I didn’t specifically answer your questions but I felt that I had to comment bc it took us forever to find this couch!

I haaate slip covers and would just look for a sofa with removable covers for the seats for washing.  Many times loose pillow back couches also have removable covers.   Then realy the only exposed area are the arm rests, and those don’t really seem to get as dirty.  And by the time kids are old enough to not make a mess on the couch anymore… if they look like crap, it’ll be time to replace them anwyays!

  • Wedding: November 1999  Also do a little investigating re having a sofa custom made. Often it is not as expensive as you think, especially if you are considering sofas in Restoration Hardware’s price range. You can have an extra slipcover made at the same time.

In a less expensive range, the quality of Ikea sofas has improved hugely over the years and you can get slipcovers for them from this company :

  • Wedding: October 2013  I’s a very naked looking sofa under ha. You wouldn’t want to use it without a slipcover.

And yes, it does come slipcovered and you can pick what fabric you want (pricing changes depending on the fabric, as well as how long it takes for them to produce it.) Here’s the link:′ defer=’defer

I use the surefit stretch covers on everything in my living room 🙂 We have multiple foster dogs coming in and out, as well as 2 of our own, plus horses and sheep. Its the ONLY way I can keep anything looking clean, and I am a clean person. PLUS, I like change,,,so I can change the room colors with the seasons. We also use a slipcover on the sofa in the barn gathering room. yes, they bag a little…they give a more casual look and sometimes they frustrate me, but in the end its worth it. I also do want to have to be conerned or careful about my furniture. Its not a priority and casues me stress, so the payoff of the ready-made slipcovers suits my lifestyle well.
