My DJ told me that the rule of thumb was to slow things down at certain parts of the cermony. Our reception was as follows:
Grand Entrance
First Dance
Father-Daughter
Mother-Son
Toasts
Then we had slower tempo songs and built up to faster tempo songs. The last song before dinner was a slow song
Dinner
Slower tempo Songs build up to faster tempo songs. The last song before the cake cutting was slow.
Cake cutting
Slower tempo Songs build up to faster tempo songs. The last song before the bouquet toss was slow.
After the bouquet toss we partied,l the music started fast. Our last song was a slow song to allow us time to say good bye to everyone.
Good luck!
Wow, thanks for the detailed instructions! I really appreciate it.

Is there such a thing? We are going to use an iPod for our wedding. FI is in charge of the playlist, but I'm wondering what percentage of the songs should be slow. Is there a rule of thumb for us to follow?
