It sounds like it's going to be awesome!
There is a blog out there called the Two Thousand Dollar wedding (or something similar) - maybe you could get inspiration for there?
I love it!! For us (another small budget, less than 5000) we think the food is most important. We are having an intimate wedding (less than 70 guests) on a weekday and a brunch as our meal. I have found that the most important areas to skimp on were florals, I'm doing all the bouquets, corsages, etc (bring it on lol) and the most important things to me was that my family and the venue were all in the same location. I didn't make my own dress, but I found one from another bride for 346 (SCORE!) My feather fascinator was diy and cost 11.25 (the one in the bridal shop was 119)... if you are on this board, trust me, you'll find tons of diy projects that you must have and a ton of great ways to save money.
Good luck and I look forward to reading about the progress and planning :D

Hubs has budgeted a total of $3000 for our daughters entire wedding. While that might seem small to some out there I am looking forward to the challenge. We are having 100 guests at the evening reception and the wedding will take place in our livingroom earlier that morning with a luncheon following.
While food is taking a large portion of our budget I still need to keep a tight reign on all of our spending and that is hard considering I have so many ideas running around in my brain. I am dying just seeing what linens will cost if we rent them.
So for all other tight-budget brides out there... What are your areas of importance and what are you forgoeing?
Some of our ideas are...
I am creating a tree on a canvas for guests to put their thumbprints on as leaves which they will sign directly under their print. This will serve instead of a guestbook.
We are making her dress ourselves as well as my dress. The bridesmaids dresses are under $50 each and we are putting together the bouts ourselves from non-floral items. Just a lot of DIY.
Our focus is food and lawn games to play. The rest is icing and we'll do what we are able and not stress about the rest. Good thing we are pretty laid back.
