So our goal is to spend as little as possible, at first I was shooting for under $5k, but more like $10k is realistic. Photography is taken care of, so we only need to pay for the reception/ceremony and some decor (would be doing the centerpieces myself)
Heres the dilemna… Do we run away to the beach, invite close family then come back home and throw a party at our house for our friends?
So say $10k is our budget, by the time we pay for travel to cali/hawaii/whatever destination, pay for a room for a few days, and any little decor/etc we may need, plus food for say 10 people, are we really saving that much money?
Locally I have a found a beautiul golf course venue, and it starts at $75 pp for a buffet including an open bar, the ceremoney/tables is an additional $2800 which I am hoping I can somehow get that pricing down.
I am thinking 50-75 close friends and family, and then we could still have a party at our house for any friends we couldn’t include. Now, everyone that has ever run away and done a small wedding or elopement says its the way to go. But a part of me wants that big party, with the decorations and the flowers and the dancing all night.
I’m so torn between what to do as I do want it to be fun an intimate, and I used to think having a destination wedding was the way to go, but then I thought about having to haul my dress/find a make up/hair person/ take care of any decor and it starts to sound like more of a stress then it might be worth. Locally I have people that have offered to help me with anything I need, and people that have decor we can use and not have to worry about.
