There was a discussion started a few months ago and a few pics here: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/did-anyone-actually-choose-a-small-stone-ring
I actually don;t have my ring yet. But I know how you feel. I fell in love with a diamond just under the half carat mark. Ladies I know that I tell, look at me, as if I am trying to be frugal, or that I am just trying to be "different". Really there is nothing wrong with either. But that just isn't the case. I truly fell in love with a small diamond. Is there anything wrong with that?!
same here, the biggest i would have wanted was half. i ended up with a 1/4 carat and i love it! (its also heart shaped).
I have a large .75 because for me it's all about the cut and how the ring looks. I'm sorry I don't have any pics of mine but I was intent on finding something vintage looking and something that fits my finger. So that's what he did. It looks awesome and has a ton of sparkle but it's not huge so when I go out in the daytime I don't feel gaudy.
I tried on some bigger rings and I felt gaudy and self-conscious. The weird thing is I will wear other stones bigger. I have two huge sapphire and topaz rings but diamonds are "too much" for me.
It's your wedding/engagement ring. You should wear something you absolutely love because you are planning on wearing this for a long time. Just make sure it passes a gut check and it looks amazing on you. Also keep in mind smaller people, smaller fingers, smaller stones look better. Unfortunately, i am not a small person so my stone looks reasonable on me but any smaller might make me look kinda big.
Some of my current favorites:

And a bunch of stuff from Carla Caruso!
Here is my ring! Center stone is a little over 1/3 of a carat. It's a perfect size for a 22 year old :) Couldn't be happier!!

Me!
My diamond is .20 something, its a solitaire & a marquise cut. I love it!

I can't imagine having something bigger than I do. The middle stone on mine is seriously probably like .05 or something and I'm still always scratching myself and DH and I feel like it gets in the way, lol. I'm just not really a jewelry person. Even my plain band feels too thick on my hand sometimes. Maybe I'm just a freakin weirdo. I have no desire for a large stone outside of halloween and dressup.
My ring is made of several very small diamonds clustered together. It's pretty and sparkly, but not a big raised solitaire or anything. I like the sparkle, but didn't want something so big. I have gotten a lot of compliments on my ring and it fits my taste perfectly.

All of the rings that I have looked at and liked have been under half a carat. I have no idea what that means. I just know that all the styles I like tend to be right around .35 carat. Does anyone else have/want a small diamond? I love pictures to see what it looks like on a real finger (rather than the blank white background...they all look the same size in pictures to me!)
Thanks!
