What about books, magazines or books of puzzles like sudoku or crosswords?  He will probably have quite a bit of down time.

@CaringFriend:  Give him a blank diary so he can write his feelings in it while going through radiation. I woiuld sign it and add a note to the purpose of the journal.

Most of the time when someone begins keeping a journal it is a diary that has been given to them as a gift.

A book I gave my friend whole she was undergoing chemotherapy.

“What About Now” reminders for being in the moment by Gina Lake.

Short one page readings. From Amazon. Look at it. I think it may be of help.

There’s a shop called inblue on Etsy and they sell handmade wallets, journals, etc. You can choose from tons of graphics and also put a short saying, initials, or even an inspirational quote. The wallets are like $18. Here is a pic.

A really nice pillow will do it. The radiation will wipe him out.

I like the Panera gift card idea…throw it in a card with a note and call it a day 🙂

CaringFriend:   I’m not sure how long ago this post was, but if anyone else is looking for a gift for cancer patients you should look at Treatmint Box. They are a subscription gift box (kind of like Birchbox or Bark Box), but for people with cancer. They have inspirational and comfort type items. They also have other gifts for cancer. There website is http://treatmintbox.com
