We are having a small wedding with only our nearest and dearest (about 35 people) and skipping a lot of the traditions – e.g. receiving line, garter/bouquet toss, parent/child dances, etc. So I don’t know how to organize the day – well, everything after the ceremony.
Has anyone else had a small wedding and could you share with me your timeline?

- Wedding: January 2012 - Wynn Las Vegas/Bouchon Bistro
This was our day:
Family pictures: 5:45-6:30 (We were married in Vegas, so our friends hit the casinos or the hotel lounge during this period.)
Walk/transport to reception restaurant: 6:30-7:00
Cocktails/hors d’oeuvres: 7:00-8:15
Cake cutting: 8:15-8:20
We had some speeches at dinner as well. People just delivered them in between courses.

Great question! We are doing something very similar. I will be interested in hearing the responses. 🙂

We had a backyard/home wedding with 55 guests. Our timeline was really simple:
6:00 (or more like 6:10): Ceremony
6:15: Cocktail hour/private time for me and Darling Husband
6:35: Cocktail hour continues/pictures
7:00 – Reception. Eating, Drinking, Talking, Mingling. We cut the cake at some point. There were toasts. We didn’t really plan it.
10:30: The shuttle came to take people back to the hotel.
