HONESTLY, your tummy is not bad at all!!!! Have you tried changing your diet such as cutting most sugars and walking a few miles every day? Walking is very good for your back.
I think you should try losing the weight the natural way but if you really want lipo do it after pregnancy. Seeing my mom go through pregnancy and then get lipo after losing the preliminary baby weight has made me realize that your body goes through so much change during pregnancy.
Unfortunately, I would wait until after the pregnancy.
I second trying diet--I went paleo/primal over the summer where I upped my fat, and cut out all carbs except what is in fruits, veggies, and chocolate (lol). I was always kind of "skinny fat" where my stomach looked lumpy even though I didn't need to lose weight, and eating that way has totally changed the way my body looks.
I was going to post about my diet, but I thought that would be overkill. :)
I actually have a nutritionist and walk tons. I also have hypothyroidism, so it makes losing weight a bear. I eat barely any sugar, low carb, high fiber, lean protein, tons of veggies (the green kind! LOL), some fruits, no white potatoes (obvi), no fried foods, no high fat cheese or cream cheese, no white bread plus low grains (wheat intolerance), high calcium non fat milk, limited caffeine....it's a little ridiculous. Everything is fresh, organic, and cooked with minimal fats. Portions are measured (deck of cards, palm of hand for meat...measuring cups for pasta). I will treat myself to dessert once in awhile when we go out to eat, but not enough to cause that tummy thing, trust me! And we barely ever eat out, except for things that I can't make at home like sushi/japanese, which I love. That's part of the reason it is so frustrating. I have a nutritionist and I'm meeting my exercise goals, but this part of my body just....well it's just THERE.
how about spanx, so you can feel more confident.
also working a little bit on you posture, try to sit up straight, also walk straight
At 112 pounds I dont think you need to loose weight, I can barely see your pooch but having said that I dont doubt you see it or that you will feel much better about yourself if it wasnt there. I think Lipo is a great idea, but wait until after you have finished having kids.
I wish I knew someone who had done it before having kids....but I don't.
You obviously are on a good diet and you say working out is limited so I won't bother with that. 1. Your pooch isn't too bad but like you, I am self concious about my body so I won't try to convince you it's not an issue. 2. Like a PP said, get spanx!
There are these amazing spanx that a lady who had twins endorses called The Squeem and basically it looks awesome. I plan on getting one for post-partum. You might wanna try one now...have your kiddos... and then do the procedure later in life?
Either way-good luck dear! and yaaay for baby fever!
As a mom, I would say wait until after babies-because pooches inevitably tend to come with having babies, as well as stretch marks and excess skin. I would love to have a tummy tuck once my family is complete.
What exactly is smart lipo and how does it differ from regular lipo?
with lipo, you have to be careful to try not to gain weight ever agin. it won't come back to the spot that was lipo'd (in your case, the stomach). but when your body gains weight, it needs to put the fat somewhere, it will find a place. sometimes with unexpected results-- for example, back fat where you didn't have back fat before.
so, if you get smartlipo and then get pregnant, just be reeeeeeaaaaly careful to only gain the weight that is required for the baby, nothing more.
just me, but that sounds really difficult and maybe you should wait until you are finished having kids.
@MrsDulce: Wait until after the baby. After about 6 months of breast feeding and working with a personal trainer I plan to have a breast lift and a little lipo to get back to normal.
@Soladylike: breast lift! Can I geta AMEN?!.......I know some women will hate me when I say this but: I plan to get them lifted after the kids....I am only 23 and they're not the perkiest in the world, even now...I can't imagine after my pregnancies...yikes..
I totally agree about the spanx...i love them... I also love that quote from like 30 rock where this guy says about Tina fey "She wears these really crazy underwear that go up to her stomach. I wanna see em." Or something like that!! :)
SmartLipo is different from regular lipo because they don't take as much fat out. It's more of a sculpturing procedure. I'm not really a candidate for regular lipo I don't think, because I don't think there's that much there (thanks bees for the vote of confidence there too!!). It's more of a "body shape" issue. With Smart Lipo they use a laser to dissolve fat cells, then suck some of them out, but it's not for major fat removal. They also don't even have to put you to sleep if they are only doing one small area like that.
But at the same time...I have baby fever so bad, I think you bees are right and I'll just wait til after the family....I really would like to look great and lean in our honeymoon photos, but it's like PPs said...your body changes so much, and I just am not sure I'll be able to wait for the swelling to go down to see the results and enjoy them long enought before wanting to get pregnant!!!
I totally want a mommy makeover package too---and FH knows that! I want the breast lift and tummy tuck! TT has way better results than smartlipo or lipo too!
@MrsDulce: There is this one wrap they do at my spa (never tried it) but they wrap you in this seaweed stuff for a couple hours on the area you want to work on...for me they'd wrap my thighs for your theyd wrap your belly.....and basically for up to 5 days? after that you are inches flatter and smaller. I know my salon charges 150 for it. I was going to do it right before our honeymoon but then realized all of my honeymoon mini skirts and bikini bottoms might not fit well if I did it so I opted out.
Anyways----it's worth a look:
this site has before & after pix:
Oh cool! That might be just the quickie fix I would like for our honeymoon. :) Thx for sharing!
How about a mini tumi tuck? I would def wait till afer babies!
I think you look gorgeous, and I didn't notice yoru belly! It's up to you at the end of the day.
I have what you are describing, so I know how it can be. You can drive yoruself into an eating disorder ( which I did years ago) trying to get rid of it!
I am happy I came accross this thread! I have the exact same thing! I was 100 lbs when I met FI and I still had the pouch that was just under my belly button. Since then I had a baby and its not a little pouch anymore lol.. My mom has it too, and I HATE it.. I have also thought of going to get lipo.
I did a ton of research on photos at realself.com
I def think I'll be getting rid of it after we have our kids. And I really think you could totally end up with an eating disorder stressing over it! Thank god for my nutritionist and weight watchers, or else I would think it was me "eating too much" when I'm actually eating right! :D
Try lifting. Cardio does little to reshape the body. Lifting... REAL LIFTING... does wonders for reshaping the body, especially stubborn trouble spots.

This girl is a powerlifter, which probably is not what most of us aspire to. But check out the middle pictures, where she's 131 lbs. Completely reshaped herself.
I'm pretty biased that women should be lifting anyway- to strengthen bones, prevent osteoperosis, etc. And it makes you look darn good in the process (none of this "oh I'll bulk up!" nonsense... which is virtuallly impossible for women to do).
So why not do something that's good for your body instead of undergoing anesthesia/under the knife/non-necessary surgery?
Good luck :)
@indiblue: I'm not allowed to "lift" more than a gallon of milk according to my orthopedic surgeon. My spine is fused but very unstable. :(

So I totally have "baby rabies"--I must have got it from the city water or something...and our wedding is in April but both me and my fiance are talking names, and starting a family, and goals before we start TTC.
But--I also have a back problem that makes it so I have this stomach pooch that is totally resistant to diet (I have the healthiest diet out thanks to a nutritionist/hypothyroidism), and since I have VERY limited exercise options there (spine is fused), there's no "working it out". It's also partially genetic, since everyone on my mom's side had this pooch, and even if you are 100lbs (which I was when I met my fiance, now I'm 112...nom for wedding planning and holidays), you still have "the pooch". It's this little round ball of fat over your tummy!! It makes me totally self concious, and I'm always tossing shirts out because I can see my tummy in them.
Then Thanksgiving weekend, I inadvertantly wore a shirt, and you can totally see the tummy in all its glory:
UUUUUGGGHHHHH. WHY IS IT SO ROUND?????
And yes, people have asked me before/told me that I look pregnant.
So I really want to get SmartLipo, and just remove this little pooch once and for all. I talked to my Aunt about it (who has been an office manager for a great plastic surgeon for 15+ years and he has done her surgeries as well--I told you, it's friggin genetic), and she said the SmartLipo would be really good for what I want since it's not a big area, it won't come back in that specific spot, and there's not a lot of down time, so I can keep working and save up my time off for our 3 week honeymoon and week long wedding! Woot!
The only thing is that I didn't tell her that we were talking about TTC after the wedding, probably about 7-10 months after I would have the procedure done. I'd like that to stay between us until we have baby news to share just for pressure reasons.
So has anyone done SmartLipo? Before or after pregnancy? What did you think?
