    Hey hive,

As the wedding gets closer, I'm realizing more and more that my typical skin-care routine just doesn't cut it! I know there have been several posts on the 'help, my skin is oily" topic already, but I was wondering about one product in particular.

Does anybody have experience with Smashbox Photo Primer? It goes under your foundation and is supposed to help everything stay matte and in place for as long as you need it. Just need some advice before I go shell out the $45 CDN!

    Thanks

I use it but I'm not really impressed with it.  It is the best thing that I have found before but it really doesn't keep my face from getting oily unfortunately.

I've used Smashbox primers before but not that specific one.  Its been awhile since I re-uped so I can't remember the one I used but there are several in the line that to certain things.  Like one rids of redness, there's one that adds bronzer.  Anyway, I liked it but honestly I didn't see much of a difference than other, less expensive primers.  That may just be the one I'd used though.  In general I love their products (and the company makes it a point to show that they don't do animal testing- so cool!)

I used it, and I loved it. But, I believe they have smaller sizes of it. So check around for that on sites like beauty.com

Clinique Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector is supposed to be amazing for reducing shine. I haven't tried it yet, though.

i know this sounds weird, but i've heard that monistat chafing gel can serve as a great primer because it's also silicone-based. i think it's a touch heavier than smashbox. if you want more info, you can do a google search and find articles/posts like these:

Awesome, thanks guys. I'm thinking of going into Shoppers Drug Mart (where its' sold) and asking to give it a trial run before buying. Any other suggestions for different products you've used?

I like Smashbox's "light" primer.  It works wonders with my normally oily skin, and it hasn't given me break outs, which im prone to.  I've noticed a big difference.

I haven't used the makeup primer, but I have used the Smashbox eyeshadow primer.  That is my brand new FAVORITE makeup item.  My eye shadow stays put forever, and I don't end up with any creases in my eye makeup like I used to.  If the makeup primer is similar, then I say go for it!

I would use some kind of makeup primer, I totally notice a difference when I put it on for a long day because my makeup lasts so much longer.  It controls shine too.  I've used the Clinique one and the Smashbox but Smashbox is my fav.  Maybe you can get a sample from Sephora before you buy?

smashbox is definitely my personal favorite.  You could get a sample at sephora, but they have the travel size for $16USD.  That is more than you will need for a few months!

Other benefits of primers include: helps you use less foundation, smooth canvas for makeup application, etc. You can look around for a good primers that works for you.

Although you still need to moisturize thoroughly and give it some time to absorb and dry before applying the primer.  Good luck!
