AlmostMrsShield:  it’s worked for us twice!  We tried it after our first MC and got a BFP first try (ended in another MC) and again for this cycle (BFP).  The SMEP has you BD EOD starting after your period ends until you get a positive OPK and then you BD three days in a row: the day of the positive and the next two days. We slightly tweak it because I know I ovulate within 12-24 hrs of a positive OPK so instead we BD EOD until I observe EWCM.  Then we BD ED that I have EWCM but usually after the first day of that I get my positive OPK so we BD that night and the next too. So really we BD the day before positive, day of positive, and day after.

I know if your DH has low sperm count that amount of BDing could deplete his sperm reserves before O time. I would say if you are 8 cycles in see about getting an SA, even if you don’t take measures to do anything else, just knowing what his numbers are could help. If his numbers are low, just BD EOD or every three days (that’s what worked for us, DH has VERY low sperm count). If his numbers are fine then that amount of BDing is fine and go for it! GL

Welp, I got pregnant in cycle 10. It was at about the same time we started using SMEP.

We had, of course, started changing his diet to be much more nutritious too, so that probably also helped.

The big thing with SMEP, though: He *must* know that he’s gotta keep things, ahem, cool in between the ol’ mating sessions. He can’t be using up the ammo on his off days.

We suspect he has a low count…based on two at home-tests that we took, anyway. And given our experiences, it seems to add up.

CookieCreamCakes:  AlmostMrsShield:  That reminds me… DH ‘used up some ammo’ this last cycle around and I was SO ticked at him!!! He won’t be doing that again.. haha…

AlmostMrsShield:  Last month we started late and as we got an early +opk we ended up bd ed for 6 days. It was way too much. so much so that I didn’t count the last day and I suspect the quality/quantity wasn’t there the previous day! And he did an SA so I know all is ok with him. Gonna try EOD this month and spread it out much more. Hopefully we’ll be able to do ed by the time we get a +opk!

phoebephoebo:  AlmostMrsShield:  I know, right?? He didn’t think it was a big deal because he thought there’d still be 24 hours in between his fun time and our BD, so he thought he was following the rules.. I was like, why waste it?!?? Ugh..

We didn’t go into TTC with SMEP, but that’s basically what we ended up doing. We got pregnant first try, so I may not be too much help, but it definitely worked for us. Some other things I did was use Preseed and I elevated my hips on a pillow after BD for 20 minutes every time.

Here’s my chart for when I got pregnant if you’re interested.

Shoot, there was this forum where all these ladies got BFPs using the SMEP method and it really got me excited, but I can’t find it now :(.
