The FH and I are having a rustic/home spun wedding and we have been tossing ideas back and forth in regard to favors. We have a tight budget and thus are looking to do something that is budget friendly for approximately 200 people!
FH saw the s’mores idea on Pinterest and really really liked it. He even went ahead and purchased the cellophane bags for them! They would look something like this…
I was totally on board with this idea and thought they would be cost effective and cute!
However, my Mother-In-Law mentioned something about having s’more favors, but no fire to roast the marshmallows. This is true. Our venue is not conducive to any sort of large open flame (indoors or outdoors) in which to roast s’mores. And there is little to no extra room to have any sort of mini indoor roasting station.
So, my question is whether or not we should proceed with the s’more favor idea, even though we would not have a place to roast the marshmallows?

Most favors are something that guests take home, not use at the wedding. Some brides have smores ‘bars’ where guests can cook their marshmellows and eat the smore at the wedding but not as a favor. I think you’ll be fine doing it without fire.

Personally I wouldn’t especially since looks like your wedding date is in Aug in WI granted up in the Superior area. Chocolate melts.. and no guest is going to want melty chocolate on a hot day unless can do like you do for an actual smore

I just got finished saying that “I hate favors” on another thread, but I’m certainly loving this one!
Go for it! (with or without the fire)

Luckily, our reception venue is air conditioned. So I am hoping that melting chocolate won’t be too much of a problem. We have also discussed using those mini packaged Hershey bars instead of the regular ones broken in pieces.

@Birdee106: +1. But oh my, a smore bar sure sounds wonderful!

I think you’re fine! If I got that, I’d definitely take it home to eat it. Maybe I’m just bad at eating smores, but there is no way I could eat one in fancy clothes… I’d be too afraid I’d make a mess! Super cute idea- smores are so yummy!!

I have to go against the grain here. If I got this I’d look for a roasting station or fire. If I couldn’t find one I’d be dissapointed.

Well, if it was me I would be wanting to give it a shot straight away! I live in Australia where smores are not common at all so I would be super keen to try one!

I’d do it, such a cute idea.

I’ve decided on s’mores as our favor also!

We did a smores table!!! I had a blast with it. We used sterno cans in a fire pit with sand. I am posting a pic of my son at it….just for fun. I know you can’t do that. I would say GO with your idea as long as you have somewhere to keep them cool!!!!
