Me and my fiance are planning on having a s’mores bar at the wedding. It’s going to be an outdoor wedding. The problem I’m having is how do we keep the chocolate from melting? I did think about almost think that we should prepackage them like the picture below and keep them inside and bring them out after dinner or still put them on trays and then bring them outside kind of like with the “prepackaged” s’mores. A couple of notes: The reception is at my mother in laws house and the fire from the sternos/firepit (what we’re more likely going to do) won’t be an issue; and the wedding is September 21 in South Carolina. So generally it is still pretty warm and a bit humid. Also, the wedding is outside. So any suggestions or tips for the bar?

I’ve been thinking about having one too, and ours will also be outside at the beginning of September, so could still be pretty warm. I think it would be best to keep them inside! We will keep them in the basement, it’s a walkout, so the easiest to get to. Don’t want it all melting! 🙂

I’ve been to two weddings with s’mores bars, one last weekend where it was pretty warm. They kept the chocolate inside until they opened the bar. They just kept them in the mini hershey bar packs. The picture above you posted is what they had on the tables as favors. I think if you put them in the fridge for a bit before setting them out they will be fine.

maybe have the chocolate bars frozen before the wedding and when its time for the bar to open have them put out or have the chocolate on ice…

Mmm, s’mores bar. I think prepackaging them could save all kinds of headaches, in terms of both quantity control, ease of use for your guests, and the ability to keep them all inside and bring them out when it’s time.

Lots of great ideas in here! We’re doing a s’mores bar, but it’ll be indoors and set up by the venue. I would assume that they’ll keep the chocolate in the fridge until it’s time.

I did think about the ice thing, I’m just not 100% sure how to go about it :/ I don’t want the ice to be a mess. I was thinking about sitting the slaw in a double bowl, so maybe I can do that with the chocolate too…hummm I’ll keep googling too. I absolutely LOOOVE the s’mores bar idea! Ever since I saw it, I can’t get it out of my head!!!
