I know I'm being oversensitive. I know, I know, I know. But my grandmother just told me it was "tasteless" to have the ringbearer wear a tuxedo. AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

    hive hugs please?

Tasteless? Lol. A tuxedo is classic and timeless. I have, however, heard of people having pure hate for kids dressed in tuxedos ... lol.

Um, did she hear wrong?  Maybe she thought you said he would wear a Speedo?

I just can see what could possibly be wrong with a tuxedo.

Hahaha what?!? That's ridiculous. Honestly, though, my grandma has...let's just call them strong opinions. I'v dealt with it all my life. She's very childish and selfish and it always has to be all about her. I don't know if that describes your grandma at all, but if it does I'm sure you've lived with it for a long time and you know how to deal with it. Smile, nod, and threaten to put her ass in a home! Just kidding...maybe

There is nothing cuter than a little man in a tux or suit. Have the lil guy wear it and I dare her not to say "aawwww" when he walks down the aisle :)

Unfortunately part of G-mas' jobs is to be snarky. lol. Did she give you a reason WHY or alternative what a ring bearer should wear?

Is she by any chance from the South? Because it's nearly unheard of and often thought of as "too much" to do it here.

What does she expect him to wear?  Sweats?  His Halloween costume?  I think you can ignore that comment.

((Huggies)) LOL, wercesterbride!  I thought ring bearers in tuxes were the standard?!  What else is he going to wear?  Snarky grandmas are cute and funny.  When I introduced my fiance to my whole family when we were dating, one of my grand aunties pinched me (Yes, pinched me as if I were a disobedient 3 year old) after pulling me aside and asking, "Are you sure you want to date this guy?  He's white!"   I thought that was cute.  (I'm Asian.)  I just thought, "Yes, grand auntie, I noticed that.  He's a tall, white guy."

Your ringbearer will be adorable.  No worries.  My great-grandmother is kind of the same way. She's become more vocal as she gets older (she's nearing 90), and I've come to think it's pretty funny.  At her age, what are we going to do?!

Hmm, I guess in her day it was classier for them to wear something like this?

On the flip side, my nana & granny are in heaven now, I WISH they could be here with us, and I know there would be some hilarious comments from both of them about our wedding plans! :)

Thank you so much everyone! And special LOL's for Soon2BeMrsC and ellebeaux

To answer the questions, she seems to think that young boys are "supposed" to wear short pants - like an Eton suit or something. She said that "putting a little boy in a tux is like putting a little girl in a strapless evening gown." I'm just ignoring her (and passing the decision to FI, since I'm all worked up about it now), but thanks for the reassurance... you guys are awesome :-)

Aw! I'm with the other girls. I thought it was the norm to have them in tuxes. My ringbearer will be in tuxes but I may have him wear his black Jordan sneaks or buy him black and white converse sneakers. I know he will look too cute in that outfit!

Maybe she just needs some visual inspiration, so she can understand how cute it would be.

I was on the phone with my mom the other day, and told her I really wanted looooong rectangular tables for the reception.  To which she responded "Ummm, that's going to look like a Rotary Club meeting!"  hahaa, oh mother!  After I emailed her several gorgeous pics of long tables set up properly for a wedding reception, she happily came over to my side of the fence and now loves the idea.  Sometimes they just have to see it to believe it.
