Am I the only one planning to wear sneakers? I’m totally looking for an elegant ball gown or mermaid for our wedding….My FI is the same height as me, and while he does not care at all if I tower over him in heels (I love 4-5 inch heels!), I care about comfort on my big day. I typically do not like flat dress shoes as my feet just tend to look like skis and I walk right out of them for some reason.
I asked him today how he’d feel if I wore sneakers instead of flat dress shoes, and he totally cosigned! So excited!
Just wanting to hear from other brides if you’re out there!
(PS….I have memories of Father of the Bride movie where she wears bangin’ sneaks to her wedding! Anyone else?)
I want to wear something like these slip-on Vans. I actually might decorate with fabric paint and jewels….but these are def the most comfy slip on style I’ve ever owned.

I would love to wear my converse or get new ones but can’t 🙁
My dress was second hand and hemmed. With the detailing, hemming it further would be too short so I need to wear low heels. Which is annoying I’m also the same height as FI.
You can get some cute photos too!

I’m heavily considering a pair of converse for under my gown. I just don’t feel the need to suffer pain wise

In all honesty, I’m probably going to go barefoot under my dress. It’ll be outside, so if the ground is wet I’ll probably put on my hot pink Chucks. I’m 5’8″ and FI is about 6’3″ and I love our height difference, and aside from that I’m a total klutz in heels.
I think sneakers are perfectly fine! Those Vans are cute.

I have custom converse to wear with my dress! Although its knee length so they will be very visable. My FI also has converse to wear with his suit 🙂

It’s funny you all say converse, because when I asked him if he’d mind, his exact words were….”as long as they’re Chucks!”….hahaha! Chucks have never felt as comfortable as Vans for me, and he obviously said whatever I want is fine! I just see so many threads stressing about these gorgeous heels and I…just….can’t…even. lol
I’m so glad I’m not alone….also I love those customs!

AprilinTX: I think it would be really cute! I like that shoes can really reflect your sense of style. They can be fun! I love the custom Converse, do they make custom Vans?

Answered my own question – you can get custom Vans on Etsy or perhaps you can even make your own!

I’ll see your sneakers, and raise you…..pink fishing boots Lol! Its kind of a “thing” in our circle that the men at weddings, whether in the party or not, change into their fishing bboots after the ceremony. I’ll be the first bride, however to wear them as well.
Just to explain; we live in New England in a small coastal fishing town. FI and his friends all have fishing in their blood.

I wore my chucks. I was comfy and no one knew until I hiked up my dress during pictures.

Ah yellow Vans!! We’re getting married outside, and while my FI is taller than me, he’s not THAT much taller than me, and I kind of like the “have to stand on tip-toes to kiss you” thing. I’m toying with the idea of a comfortable pair of heels I already own (thick-ish heel, so it won’t get lodged in the grass) and getting a new pair of yellow Vans (wedding color, favorite color). I’d love to write something like this on it, because I love cake and it’s just so perfect:
At the very least, if I wear heels for the ceremony, I may change into “OMG CAKE” shoes for the reception/dancing/party time 😀

I am wearing sneaker wedges (I am really short and didn’t want to forego a heel). I just love the idea of wearing a super formal gown, and then surprise- sneakers underneath! No one will really see them except when we break the glass together.

AprilinTX: My girlfriend wore TOMS under her dress and it was cute. (Her husbands name is Tom… I think that’s where it came from)
As a bridemaid we wore red formal dresses with white TOMS. Super comfy the whole day! I even re-wore them for my engagement session. You can get the glittery ones, or a plain white pair and decorate them.
