I didn't gert to do this much while i was in college--nobody was engaged! Or if they were they had rings that weren't my taste.
I still notice women's rings. I just love me some diamonds! I love allt he different shapes and styles and cuts. Sigh. So pretty! But i also notice right hand rings a lot, too. Those are typically "funkier" and i like color and pop too
I notice rings alot, and with my job, I get to see alot of them since I deal with so many people every day. And sure, some of them are HUGE and I get a little twinge of jealousy... but I always love mine, because it's from Mr. KM and I would have said yes to a twist tie.
I still do this a lot, although it was way way waaaaaaaaay worse in the few months before I got engaged! It's hard not to! Don't worry, your time will come...I definitely remember feeling the same way, that everyone and their freakin mother had a gorgeous diamond on their left finger and I didn't...Harumph! It's so hard to wait but it will be worth it when the proposal happens, I promise!
lol... thats one of my guilty pleasures ....... lol lol lol ... i though i was the only one.. i cant help but stare ... I live in the virgin islands .. so one summer i was returning home from ATL and so many couples sat around me who was on there way to St. Thomas for their honeymoon... i couldnt help myself but stare at all the new rings .... I am trying to keep patient while i wait... i even stopped visiting the bee during the christmas holidays because of so many engagements and i felt overwhelmed (smiles).
but i know my day will come ...
I do this all the time! I think it was waaay worse before. I have calmed down a little about other people's rings and have decided that no matter what I will love what I get and I won't need to compare it to anyone else.
I LOVE my ring! I'm a sales manager at a hotel, and give a lot of tours to potential brides, so I am ALWAYS checking out the bling!
I almost forgot about this post! lol! I still do this but i'm not as bad about it as when I didn't have my ring. I love my ring! I love him! I am so lucky to have him in my life!
I really only notice other people's rings if they are gargantuan. read: tacky.
lol ... and you know what i am talking about. hillary duff's 14 ct ring? puhleeeese. it was ONLY a million dollars ....
I still do it. I don't do it on purpose, but every once in awhile I catch myself commenting on someone's ring while I'm taking their money or handing them a drink. lol.
I actually didn't do this until I got my own ring. I do it all the time now. I am always sneaking looks at everyone's rings, even men's - but theirs aren't as fun to look at, of course.
I still do too! And not just women, men also. I love looking to see first if someone has a ring on their finger in the first place--as cheesy as it may sound--I think it's sweet that they have love :)
I never get jealous or compare b/c I love my ring, even if it's not as "decorated" as some other women's rings. But I do love to look!
i have a pretty ring and i stare at everyones!! lol i appreciate a good stone!!!
I guess i'm not tht only one! what a sigh of relief... lately I've been noticing them alot more and get excited for my day! I love to see the different types, cuts and styles and how they reflect each person... everyone is so unique!
Since I'm impatiently waiting I am constantly noticing other women's e-rings. I do get a twinge of jealousy, especially if they are younger than me, or have been together less time than me and SO. Also, it seems like all my friends are getting engaged left and right, so that doesn't help! I know it's silly, and our time is coming (very soon!) but the irrational part of my brain always gets the best of me. You're not alone!!
I think I always noticed *if* there was a ring but in the few months before we got engaged I was really trying to scope out what each ring was! I still love to look at rings now. It's a hobby :)
Before I was engaged I always lusted after people's at the gym. Waiting in line for yoga class I would just look at all the women's and think about how I couldn't WAIT to have mine! Now that I am engaged I still love looking at other peoples... it's just so fun!
You will do this all your life-
But... I said this on another thread. A lot of these rings that you see are not real diamonds. They are Moissanite, Zircon or CZ's. I couldn't say what percentage, but I would imagine it's pretty similar to Louis Vuitton knock off purses (or Coach) as a status symbol. I have a male friend who was pretty snarky about this... he gave his bride a huge CZ and she was under the impression that it was real until after they were divorced and she was trying to sell the ring and got the bad news. He actually laughed about it- I didn't like her much, but I definitely hated his attitude about the whole thing. I bought a travel set that has a beautiful setting with a large CZ- I getmore compliments on that ring than I do on my own georgeous platinum set marquise. Go figure. Anyway- doesn't pay to be jealous... it's natural to compare though.
I totally sneak a peek, now that I am in the running for "America's Next Bride"! You can't help it. It always seems like everyone is married, engaged, planning a wedding but, Y-O-U! It's coming my dear, we have to hold on! (lol)
I do the same thing. Because I proposed to Mr.TKE I never got a ring. He offered to buy a ring for me, but I didn't want him to use all his savings to find me the perfect ring. I still kind of regret it, but it's too late now. So, I just wear a ring I got for my confirmation about 10 years ago. It's simple but I love to be able to wear it. Mr.TKE doesn't care either.
LOL! I'm engaged and I STILL do it! I think whats worse is that I look online for engagement rings too! But I always end up telling FH i like mine the best!
I'm the same way as a couple others - always noticed presence/absence but never a single detail of rings....until I got mine. Afterwards I even asked friends who were already engaged or married to see theirs again, because I felt like I had never really noticed them before!
I love checking them out where I live, because a lot of people here have non-standard and interesting rings. Just remember though - there's not necessarily a correlation between the gorgeousness of the ring and the love of the FI :)
i to do the same thing, i think it has gotten worse within the last yr.because of my job i come into contact with so many different calibre of ppl.some rings are modest but then u come across a couple who seem to be well off and the woman is carrying a huge one.i tend to size them up and see what else they have going on like their watches and other jewelry to decide if its a fake or not.i kn i kn .am laways happy for them though.my SO has good taste so i think he did a good job.he keeps telling me that my ring cost an entire car.he said he bought it in installements.which is unusual cause he really buys stuff in one shot.no wonder its taken him so long before i can get it.(almost 2 yrs now he's had it) hopefully this yr.
