I just realized there isn't really a point to this post, other than to try to keep my sane while I wait to find out what's going on...
Oh my goodness, how stressful! I'm sorry this is happening to you. It's amazing how much snow everyone is getting this year and now to have that prospect over yoru head. I hope it all works out for you.
try to stay calm until you get more information! this must be so stressful. good luck! keep in mind that no matter what happens, you and fi are safe, and that's all that matters.
I'm so sorry. Hopefully it is just a precaution and everything will be fine. I hope you hear from them soon! Can you just drive over to speak to somebody? Or could you FI drive over?
But at least you two aren't inside. You both are safe. Try not to worry. I bet it is just a precaution, since others had problems. Hopefully, they'll clear the snow and you'll be allowed back in there very, very soon! :)
I wish I could drive over, but I'm stuck at work until 4, and my SO and I share a car so he can't drive there either. Thanks for the kind words, I'm just waiting to hear something. Hopefully they'll return my call soon, otherwise I'll be heading to their office after work.
Bless your heart. You must be quite frantic.
Do you have a neighbor you could call? Or a friend that works nearby that could do a quick drive by?
Hoping everything is okay.
It's been 4 hours since I found out the building was evacuated, and I still can't get ahold of anyone to find out what is going on.
At least I can go home soon, and hopefully get some information from someone.
Well I finally found out what happened. Someone heard creaking in the attic so they went to check it out, and found that 12 support beams are cracked. My building was condemned, and I was told to expect it to be at least 3 weeks before we can move back in.
I'm so sorry. :( Where will you stay for the next few weeks? Are you allowed to get your things or are you not allowed to even go inside even for a few minutes? I know this is awful for you, but thank gosh they will fix the problem and the building didn't collapse. Most importantly, you both are safe!! Hang in there and I hope the next few weeks go quickly!!
We haven't been able to get our things yet, they said we should be able to go in for a few minutes later this weekend, after they finish removing the snow from the roof. We're staying with my SO's parents for now. They said the building is still in danger of collapsing, but they should be able to repair the supports and make the building stable again.
oh dear! that is terrible! i am so glad that they found out that there was damage before anyone was hurt. still VERY stressful! i hope things go more quickly than expected and that you are able to go in to get some of your things ASAP. glad you're OK though!
Any news?!?!
I wish I had more encouraging words for you....but I am seriously in major hatred of all the snow right now too! I wish you guys nothing but the best. If all else fails I wish that you at least get to get your important stuff out of your house. Sending warm and positive throughts your way. Keep us updated!
@MissFlipFlops: We were able to get some of our things out last night. They're saying it will be about 3 weeks before we can move back in. They also said we'll have a meeting one day this week to give everyone more information.
If anyone's still following, our condo association just called to let me know it's going to be 6 more weeks until we can go home. :(

My SO just called me to tell me that our condo complex was evacuated because there are cracks in the structure from the weight of all the snow on top of the building. The fire department told him to call the condo association for more information, and to find out when we are expected to be allowed back in the building. The condo association hasn't answered or returned any of my calls, and at this point I have no idea what's going on. I'm so stressed because this has happened to several other buildings nearby, and then they collapsed. I don't know if I'm going to have a home to go home to soon. :(
