So a gift arrived, but...

Okay one of my gifts from the Amazon.com regisrty arrived today. It didn't have a name on it but I found out who sent it by checking the thank you card list on the site.

The trouble is, the gift is only one of 3 items he bought and the package I received said "1 of 1" on it.

I've gotten other items from Amazon, and they will be from the same person but arrive at different times. Looking back all of those have said "1 of 2" or what not...

I'm kinda worried, yet I don't want to call this person and be like "So where's the other gifts", you know?

Anyone used amazon or have any insight into this? Oddly enough I didn't get a notice in my inbox telling me something from the registry shipped to me - and I know I got one the other times.....

I should add thathe lives out of state and one of the items is rather large so I doubt that he would try to bring it with him on the plane...

I'd call Amazon and check the order first.  Maybe they can give you insight on what was purchased/shipped and rectify the situation without having to make an awkward call to the sender.

I once went shopping at Crate and Barrel for my friend Annie's shower.  I printed out her list, and selected a few things thinking I might as well buy the wedding gift while I'm here too.  A few weeks later, I give Annie her shower gift at her shower.  A few weeks later, something comes up and I need a gift for Sally, and here in my room is this lovely vase - so I gave Sally the vase I'd originally purchased for Annie.  A few weeks later it is time for Annie's wedding, and I of course bring her a lovely gift (no clue what I got her).  5 years have past, and now I am a bride, and now I understand registries.  I bet Annie was always been baffled at why it said someone bought her this vase, and yet she never received it?!  I'm older, wiser, and a bride - so I won't be making that mistake again... but maybe that is what happened here?

hmmm I don't really think that could be it, this person is smart, like MENSA smart - he's bought several things off registries and made his own for his wedding 3 years ago.

What you say does make sense though...I e-mailed amazon to see what ig going on - hopefully they can help me.

if you're really concerned, i'd definitely contact amazon over the giftgiver. but just because he bought 3 items from your registry doesn't mean they would automatically be shipped together. sometimes items aren't availalble at the same time, and things get shipped at different times, based on the availability. also, the gifts might have come from different shops...amazon sells things from their own warehouse but also carries stock from other stores, which handle their own shipping outside of amazon, etc. so i wouldn't worry about it too much :). if you want, just check the items that were purchased, and it should give some indication about where it's from and all that.

Okay, I double checked and all the items came from Amazon, not outside source or store.....I haven't yet heard back from them yet still waiting for the reply.

hey sweeney.  give it more time.  the same thing happened to me.  i got 3 gifts from one family via amazon.  the first gift arrived and said 1 of 1 - this completes your gift order, but i know they bought me 3 things.  the other 2 packages showed up over the course of the next two weeks.  in fact, one of the pans was shipped direct to me from macys even thought it was "sold by amazon".  so they'll come... just give it time!

similar story here too- we didn't register on amazon but a friend bought us gifts from there. we received the gift and it was a pizza cookbook. the receipt said 1 of 1 also. we were starting to wonder if that was it! about 2 weeks later we got the rest of the gift- a pizza stone. a great combination but amazon never offered us a clue that there was more coming :-)

are you sure he bought you 3 gifts?  I don't know how the amazon registry works, but I know they always ship things separately and stuff.  I was thinking, maybe he bought you the one gift, and bought himself the other 2 items?  Or does it show that on your registry - he bought the 3 gifts off of your registry?  I don't know.  I would just assume that either they were shipped separately, or he plans on giving you the others as a wedding gift at the wedding, and had them shipped to him?

Well, if you send a thank you for the gift that arrived and there's more, then your gift giver will know that what they paid for wasn't delivered and send a yell to amazon!
