So I have been bugging FH for months to look over my budget. He keeps saying that he’ll look at it, he knows the big number I’m working with. I’ve been asking him to review the catering proposal (he was in the meeting with me at the meeting with said caterer). I come home tonight and he looks like he’s going to freak out at the price. We’ve discussed this 100 times and he apparently doesn’t listen. We’ve been talking about all this stuff…I’m not 100% sure how we’re going to pay for it, but we’ll figure it out. I get that he’s worried, it just annoys me that he waits until NOW, when we’ve picked the caterer to express his concern. I’ve been trying to get him to look over this crap for months now.

@MsGinkgo: Rant felt! I don’t understand how guys who are regularly good with money can have no clue what goes into the cost of a wedding! Like somehow the magic venue fairies appear and the venue is arranged, set up, and fully paid for. I feel you there! I’m not getting rid of my FI, but I have considered trading him in for used cooking oil sometimes. I guess at least he finally looked at!

@renwoman: Where are these magic fairies and where can I get some?

This happened to me too! Thankfully i was super on top of everything and my FI just needed to feel like he was taking charge. (He drafted up a budget document of his own while we were talking about it, even though i have sent him at least three budget outlines with updates in the last few months!)
I know its all working out, but i’m with you – I wish he’d looked over it at least once since we’d started planning!!!

FI and I have an agreement, he knows the final budget and doesn’t ask any questions past that. He gets have a say in everything he wants to but he isn’t allowde to ask how much it is. lol Men can really be useless when it comes to this wedding stuff!

The most annoying part is that he got all mopy and worried about it and theN decided he was going to bed. He had no suggestions for what to do, no ideas where we might trim things, a lot of the menu is his idea. He just doesn’t get it.
we both want this wedding, it’s the wedding we want, I’m not sure how much he thought things would cost…
