Well, I'm way over here in Palm Springs, but I had Jamie Lyn of J Russell in Palm Desert--she is phenomenal! She has worked with David Tutera, which I didn't know prior to my trial. She does amazing work, which I will confirm when we get our wedding pics back!
I used Angie Pham for MU (thanks to a rec by another bee). She was FREAKING INCREDIBLE. She was already booked, so I couldn't use her for my hair too (but I would have). Seriously skilled and so sweet and pleasant to work with. Can't say enough good things about her: www.angiepham.com
I am using Karis Staley of Bella Blush Hair and Makeup Design. I did my trial right before my shower and everyone at the shower did not know and kept saying how great it was and it lasted all through the shower, taking home the presents and going out with my FI for dinner and drinks. She also was great to work with and has great pricing.
I'm so glad you posted this! I am getting married in La Canada and I am looking for someone to do hair and make up. Everyone seems to be so expensive though! :(
I highly recommend Aimee Jakes, the former owner of Puff Beauty Salon in South Pasadena. She charges about $95 for wedding day makeup, which INCLUDES the trial. I used the trial for my engagement photos. Afterwards, I wanted to tweak some of the colors used in the trial so she actually did *another* trial on me, at no extra cost.
She is super sweet and very meticulous, and eager to please. Puff has closed, so she will travel to you. You can read some of the reviews of Puff Beauty on Yelp; they are still up. She can be reached at aimeejakes on a Yahoo mail account.
She does not do hair, though, I just went to a local salon.

I'm using Design Visage in Newport Beach, they did an AWESOME job on my hair & makeup trial!
I am using Nicole Finnegan and Melissa from Guy Mathew Salon for my make up and hair. They are in Agoura/ Westlake area so not too far from Malibu. Nicole is AMAZING! She did my make up for my engament pics too. PM me if you want to see pictures or want more info.
Melissa works with Nicole at almost every wedding and does hair. You wont be disapointed. Melissa is doing my hair also.
