It’s possible you’re not really ovulating. The OPK just detects a surge in a hormone; it doesn’t confirm that you are actually ovulating. Some women take a while for their bodies to “get back into the swing” after birth control.

I’d suggest charting your temperatures as well. That will tell you that you are in fact ovulating and when exactly it happened (it also lets you know when to POAS since doing so before 10dpo is VERY unreliable).

I would also check our ‘Taking Charge of Your Fertility’. It helps explain the temp charting and goes into detail of what things mean.

Good luck!

I second the recommendation to chart your temps – I just came off the pill this summer, and I’m actually going to stop using OPKs for a while because they’re driving me crazy.  My temperatures clearly show me when I’ve ovulated, and my body gives me pretty good signs of when it’s coming (cervical mucous, cervical position, ovulation pains).  Taking Charge of Your Fertility is an excellent book – I would also recommend using Fertility Friend to chart and doing their online charting course.  It’s basically a crash course in a lot of the same info TCOYF covers, so it could give you a nice primer on what’s going on in your body.

Good luck!

I know it’s frustrating, but I would continue to watch your cycle, do some BD when the OPKs are showing up and if you have nothing to show for it after a couple more months (regular period or a pregnancy), go to your OB and explain that you feel that you may not be ovulating since you are not having AF regularly. Show her the charting you have done and explain the usage of OPKs. Fingers crossed that your body gets back into it’s swing and you get that BFP!

@ParaSarah:  Hopefully that was just your body getting those lingering hormones out and now you are headed for nice, normal cycles! Charting is a great way to get to know your body!! Fingers crossed you get your BFP soon!
