That dress is gorgeous on you!  Such a classic and elegant look.  If you’re still wondering about a mermaid, go back and try some mermaid dresses to see if any change your mind.  It’s normal for brides to go into shopping wanting one style and loving another style after trying it – totally happened to me too.

I think it looks great. You could always alter this dress to be more of a mermaid fit too.  My dress was very similar with the detail going just below the hips like that and I had it taken in a bit more to be slightly more fitted than a full a line.  I’d post a pic.. but it seems to be lost right now in this new page design…

Hey! It’s always hard to know what to say on these posts because everyone has their own tastes, and of course you have to make the choice that’s right for you and not for me! BUT, you said you wanted opinions, so here it is-

I think you have a good figure and lots of dresses will look good, I’m personally not crazy about this particular dress. I don’t think an A-line like this is going to give you the hourglass shape that a mermaid dress would (if that’s what you’re going for), even once it is fitted. I also personally find the shininess of the fabric combined with the appliques and the A-line to be a bit of a dated look (and a bit prom-y). Again, I know fashion is different everywhere so maybe this is very in style where you are, those are just my totally unfilterd/honest opinions.

Good luck, I’m sure you’ll find the dress that’s perfect for YOU.
